Very exciting place with food beyond our borders. If you enjoy people AND food, consider NewBo. You will not be disappointed.

We killed a little time before motel check in here. Wish we didn't eat earlier, as there was a nice variety of food options. Other shopping items were stickers, Iowa towels, etc. Didn't buy anything but ok to browse. Seemed dead on a Friday afternoon. Looked better than Keg and Case Market in St Paul, MN. Review 83 in 2023.

Cool market in downtown Cedar Rapids. They had a food court and smaller local souvenir stores nestled in between. I bought some cool IOWA stuff there and I was met with friendly people everywhere.

Such a fun place to go on the weekends! There are normally lots of different small business inside and places to eat from. Every once in a while there will be events too!

So many wonderful booths to check out! It is a strong attempt to create an international food court with a wide variety of homemade goods. A group of local small business owners, selling and sharing their unique services, talents, and wares! The NewBo City Market reminds me of a down home version of The Public Market in Emeryville, CA., with a more casual, hipster, local town vibe! I love it!Don't you hate it when you agree to meet up with friends, but no one can agree on what type of food or which restaurant to go to? Well, here is your answer to that problem! The NewBo Market features many different kinds of food that is sure to peak one's interest and attract and entice one's sense of smell! So much to choose from! Why not try a little of it all! Maybe a morning latte with a breakfast sandwich? How about a Greek Gyro & Mediterranean food, or possibly a tender beef brisket sandwich? Maybe your in the mood for Filipino Adobo, Caribbean J*** Chicken, a Wood Burning Pizza, or creamy, delicious gelato; there are so many places to choose from! Why not try them all! I've been to this market a few times now and I have tried a little bit from most of the food booths and I have not been disappointed! Not only are there a variety of places to choose from to eat, there are several unique shops. Local people are taking their hobbies, skills and incredibly creative ideas and becoming their own entrepreneurs! If you have a dog, there is a husband and wife team that make their own doggy treats, cakes, and unique gifts for your canine buddies! So adorable! And they are planning on coming up with a new cat line for all the loving feline friends! So look out for that! Perhaps you are looking for a unique gift or maybe you just enjoy finding unusually incredibly creative and thoughtful ideas brought to fruition! There is a shop, as soon as you enter the main door, that carries such things like hand painted walking sticks, jewelry made from the hands of a young entrepreneur, custom printed rocks and crystals, knitted scarves, and so much more! All items sold in this shop are made from Iowa locals who could very well be your next door neighbor. There is even a computer and phone repair shop that offers free consultations for those needing such repairs. I would have a few suggestions on the food market. I felt like it was missing a Korean, an Indian, and maybe a Chinese booth! So maybe someone would be interested in setting up one of these kitchens! Huh huh? This would help to truly make it more of an International marketplace! Oh! And maybe a pastry or dessert shop and bakery! Yum'!So if you haven't been by the NewBo City Market, what are you waiting for?' Get down there and check it out!

We stopped in for lunch and had a nice quick bite. I won't lie, a lot of the food stalls were selling things I didn't want to eat like vegan foods, bison and jerk seasoned foods (too spicy for us). We ended up getting a couple pizzas which were ok, the mushrooms they used were from a van which was meh but the wood oven made a nice pie. We also had Jambalaya from the Cajun/Creole spot which was just ok. It wasn't super flavorful but it wasn't terrible either. It's a nice space and the ambition of the organization is one that should be celebrated as it is clear Cedar Rapids is trying to develop a creative class which would be good for the town. Still there is room to grow here to develop the place.

Pros: My husband had an excellent pita sandwich from the Mediterranean place Cons: We signed up for the Friday class on Apple desserts. I thought this was a cooking class. That's what came up when I was searching for them. Unfortunately, a better description would be a cooking demonstration. They should make that clear in the description. That wasn't clear. It was worded and written like it was a cooking class. Unfortunately, we paid $70 dollars for my husband and I to watch someone cook. The woman was very nice but this was not what we were expecting. Very disappointed. I recommend you contact the store first before you sign up for their food classes to see if it's an actual hands on cooking experience or just a cooking demonstration. This class was not worth the money. There were a number of others in the room who look disappointed by the experience as well. At least we got to sample the desserts made. They were good.

Just okay. Stopped here late morning or so. Just opened. Really not much going on. Reminds me of an upscale food court.

Cute indoor market with food stalls and small business shops. Nice grassy area with a stage for performances out front.

Visiting at Firehouse AirBNB for a few days. Totally enjoyed Mediterranean food from Newbo Market. Gyro was fabulous, Greek salad too! Best flavor we have ever had. Vendor might be named Pitas.

I got lunch at Torch Kitchen Co (just opened this week) and it was fantastic! I had the 3 slider combo (bison&cheese, seared salmon and chicken and waffles) with a side of firefly jam and it was one of the best things I've eaten this year. Nice staff! I don't normally write reviews, but their food was awesome!
