Before I begin let me say I have curly/wavy hair, and it's difficult to find someone that knows how to cut it. I travel around the country and you'd be surprised how few stylist know how to do this. Prior to this visit I inquired if they had such a person. Long story short they hooked me up with Connor; quite a chatty fellow which made me feel comfortable. Boy, does he really knows his stuff. I can honestly say that he did a remarkable job and it is the best hair cut I've had in many years.

Update: So, if you leave a bad review, they might respond on the review to make it seem like they care. They do not. Instead, they'll say you made it all up. :) I let them know what happened via email, even the part where my stylist constantly told me to keep my eyes closed, and the fact that my stylist asked me if I had ever attempted suicide and had survivors guilt.
Absolutely worst salon. The lack of respect is hurtful and so disappointing.
I didn't want to make this review because I feel bad about it. I gave myself a couple weeks to sit with my hair and see how I felt and I just don't like it, unfortunately. It was about $390 for it all. I wanted a calico inspired hair coloring and some bangs with a bit of medium length layering. My reference photos showed bright ginger colors and blondes. I got mostly dark brown, some blonde, and hidden reds. It doesn't stand out like I had hoped. The bangs weren't cut evenly, nor was the rest of the cut much. The whole time my stylist was cutting my hair she continued to tell me to keep my eyes closed. And then styling happened and I personally really dislike my hair being styled but it happened before I even realized because I kept being told to keep my eyes closed. I appreciated the enthusiasm but being on the spectrum and overall being very picky with my hair, I felt so uncomfortable. I loved the personality of the place but will look elsewhere next time. I'm bummed because I waited 2 years to get my hair touched again and I don't like how it looks. I'm insecure and was excited for the sort of 'wa-pow' of colors and bangs that didn't send me into a sensory overload. The stylist told me to message her on Instagram with things and I did about my discomfort with the cut at the very least and she said she'd fix it for no cost and then left me on read when it came to finding a time. Maybe she is busy but either way I am now out about $400 with hair I don't feel confident in. The colors seem randomly placed without much planning, as well as dull and hidden. And my bangs are uneven and way longer than I wanted.
Most of all:
Please do NOT ask clients repeatedly to keep their eyes closed during a hair appontment they are then spending almost $400 on.

I called this salon to ask if they could blow-dry and trim my 3C hair. I was told they’d check if the stylist felt comfortable with my hair type and call me back. An hour later, I was told no one there could style my hair and was referred to another salon, which was fully booked until November.
To be clear: if you are a doctor who can’t treat Black patients, you’re not a real doctor. If you are a dentist who won’t treat Black people, you should not be licensed. And if you are a stylist who cannot style Black hair, you should not be called a professional, but in Iowa, where the CROWN Act hasn’t passed, there’s no requirement in the cosmetology license to ensure stylists can work with all hair types, regardless of race.
This was a painful reminder of how normalized exclusion still is in beauty spaces. If you’re sensitive to racial trauma, I would recommend avoiding this salon altogether.

Got my hair cut here a while ago, and I was waiting to post till my hair kind of grew back to a length I could see it and not be sad. I booked an appointment with a stylist by name because I saw her work and really liked it. When I go to get the cut the woman at the counter says the stylist I asked for is “unavailable” but she can cut my hair. I know that was a lie because I SAW the stylist on the floor once I was seated and she had already started. When I confronted her about it she got defensive and said “people book with her all the time, the rest of us are just as capable.” The rest of my haircut was in total silence, and she cut my hair way to short (I asked for a lob, got a terrible too short bob) and she curled it. So I left looking like a mushroom. If I had gotten the hairstylist I asked for, I’m sure the outcome would have been different. So much for “just as capable.”

I used to hate getting my hair cut, I started coming here after 4 or so years of just cutting my own hair myself, and I have to say it's one of the best salon experienced I've had. The environment is very inviting and chill, and I feel like they really listen to what I want and help me figure out ideas for my hair! Abi has been absolutely awesome and I finally look forward to getting my hair cut instead of dreading it!

I’ve gotten my hair cut at Fix by Abi twice now and I cannot recommend this salon enough. The salon has a fantastic vibe and everyone is always laughing and joking around. However, Abi is my favorite part of my visit! I have never felt so comfortable in a stylist’s hair in my LIFE! She’s super accommodating and friendly and definitely includes you in every decision about your hair from start to finish. She’s the only stylist I’ve ever visited more than once, and I doubt I’ll be seeing a different stylist again. 10/10.

I needed a refresh on a wolf cut I'd gotten some months back elsewhere, and put off booking another hair appointment as it meant having to look for a place in the area that does alternative cuts. It was meant to be! I brought reference photos and some concerns and details from my last cut, and Conner was able to bring EXACTLY what I was looking for and more to life! There were some things I was unsure of with how I wanted the style to look, and trust he knew how to address all my concerns. I was excited throughout the whole process of how it'd turn out! He did a final blowout and WOW!! I swear I don't think I ever felt so happy and confident about my hair!

I've always cut my own hair, so I never had to try to explain my style before. So I came in and kinda babbled about what I wanted without really making sense. Thankfully my stylist, Conner, had the vision to give me the exact cut I didn't know I wanted. Thank you I'll be back!
