HR Block. I read reviews ahead of time. The knock was they make it very difficult to do their free or $55 service. This is exactly right. Frustrated by their app not accepting my documents, I finally went to a local HRB location. I explained my irritation at these reviews being so accurate. It feels scammy, believe it or not. The preparer first told me $159 which I accepted. It took 45 seconds for that to turn into $260. I asked why the difference. I was told there would be one additional page for a non-consequential Roth disbursement. The corporate plan appears to be get you in the door, lose the advertised “free” or low cost options, and then begin assaulting your intelligence and wallet. It’s a shame such a classic US business has just turned into a fat money grabber. Use your local CPA’s. These are bound by capitalism at its worst.

If I could give a zero star rating, I would. The tax pro that I was assigned to hadn't done an amended return before (which was admitted on the phone after the fact) and messed up my tax filing, causing me to owe WAY more than I should had. Their "100% Accuracy" is just plain wrong. When called about this, I was strung along for 2 months, avoided by the tax pro and given attitude by the manager at this location, just to be told that it was my fault and to kick rocks. I will be reporting this location and the individual who completed this return to both corporate and the IRS.

I'm a 30 year customer who had a question about my 2020 taxes. I took my copy of all my paper work for the tax year of 2020 to the 1st Ave location in February of 2022. It is now March of 2023 and nothing has been done. They do not return my calls and refuse to connect me with my agent. As a result of H&R not checking their work I will no longer use their service.

Love our tax guy hate the website. Tried doing the taxes the online way and something messed up so we still had to go in. Thankfully they could get us in on such short notice.

I felt very welcomed and comfortable with my tax professional. We were both kind of new at the tax thing but he did everything well and explained so I understood. Thanks H&R Block Vinnie

I was hesitant even giving them one star, because they deserve 0!! Do not use this location for any of your tax needs. They did not finish up my tax returns before the location closed, so no one has finished it and no one is returning my messages or phone calls. They took my money though!!! I am expecting thousands of dollars back for the amendment and tax return I paid them to complete and now I am wondering if I will ever see that money. I am a single mom and was counting on that income, this has caused me a lot of stress and I am seriously considering contacting an attorney. I called the 800 number and they set me up with an appointment by phone at the Lindale office, but she never called me either!!!
