I and my husband was very happy with the service at John's . They were very knowledgeable about the problems and noise our car was making, fast at getting it done ,loaned us a car till ours was done which was a nice touch beings we didn't have an extra vehicle or someone to pick us up. If I could I'd give it more than a 5. Car rides and sounds like new.

I learned about John's Automotive when I saw Al on the morning show, Everyday Iowa. Then I read their impressive customer reviews here.
I was looking for an auto shop because my local auto shop (who I like and trust) doesn't feel comfortable doing engine work on my older Toyota, 1996. He usually sends me to Toyota for engine repairs. I have used Toyota for service and they generally do good work. But in my experience they seem rushed at Toyota and have overlooked things on occasion.
So I decided to try John's. They did an in-depth vehicle inspection and diagnostic to figure out why check engine light was on. They made recommendations for repairs and explained why.
I also bought John's Car Care Club package. This package offers free and discounted services that incent you to keep up on maintenance of your car. It's already paid for itself with the discounts on services I've had done.
People have commented that John's prices are higher than other shops. Yes, their pricing is higher.
But John's uses more expensive parts (with 3 yr, 36k warranty) and they are an ASE certified shop.
Also the mechanic who worked on my car has 18 yrs experience at this shop. As does Al.
Before I have repairs done, I usually get 2 or 3 estimates so I can take price into consideration.
Another thing is that even though John's is more expensive, they recommended only the necessary repairs at this time versus others who recommended unnecessary repairs.
I'm very happy that I found John's Automotive and look forward to working with them in the future.

It was $181.00 just for a diagnostic. They said ECU computer and it would be almost 2,000. ????. I went and picked up my car. I ordered the ECU computer and I put it in. I couldn't get the key to relearn. So I called a locksmith and they tried but no success. I changed the spark plugs and coils and still won't start. So now my brother in law ordered the whole fuse and relay assembly. Just waiting for that to get here now.
