Seems to be more of a grocery store rather than local food. Lots of processed food, mylar wrappers, and plastic containers. Looks like their meat department ran that shop at the NewBo City Market out of business and then took over their entire product line. Saw some local labels but pretty scarce. Prices are high when comparing organic to organic available in other places, easy comparison, because so many items are not local and organic, just organic.

Great place, but the All Gender bathrooms need to go. Can we please come back to reality?!

This place is very clean, the people are friendly, and I love that if there is a unique food item that I cannot find elsewhere (especially produce) I can usually find it here.

I love visiting this store every time I'm in town! They have a nice variety of fresh produce, organic and vegan products. This time I was specifically looking for a vegan cake, because we were attending a wedding. My child was super excited and wanted to have wedding cake like everyone else, but was sad it contained cows milk and asked if we could look for an alternative. New Pioneer is awesome!! We found the most delicious slice of chocolate cake, just the right size for us to share. We also purchased vegan peanut butter bars, chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies, and a cute carrot shaped bath bomb. I only wish we had more time in town to explore and purchase more!
The staff is always super friendly too. I asked for a business card to put in my child's memory book and the cashier also gave us a cute sticker. I know some people might think, what's the big deal.. it's just a sticker. But her kindness, enthusiasm, cheerful attitude and big smile truly brightened up my day.
Sometimes being vegan is a challenge, misunderstood, or even made fun of. Not at New Pioneer. They always make you feel welcome and right at home. I'm looking forward to visiting again the next time we're in CR!

this grab and go sandwhich they make is incredible. it has a house made cashew jalapeño spread on sourdough with veggies and spinach and red onion ✨ their fresh baked sourdough AND vegan chocolate chip cookies are drool-worthy. the grocery shop also has a large variety of vegan options. more expansive than other places, but they also offer 10% off all purchases for folx using SNAP/WIC benefits. and the staff are so friendly. cute community space just to stop in and have coffee (and that cookie) in their cafe area.

I called ahead to ask about ORGANIC ground or whole bean decaf coffee. The 2 people I spoke with were very friendly and knowledgeable.
