We purchased paint for a substantial remodel. Being ignorant about this kind of work, we were told they could help us estimate the amount of paint needed for our work. We purchased a little over $600 of paint and were surprised to find we had been sold more than double the amount of paint needed for two coats on our walls but not enough paint for the trim. Innocent enough mistake but I was surprised to be told by the manager that 1) their input on the amount of paint to purchase isn’t an official estimate and they aren’t obligated to stand by it and 2) they don't accept any paint returns for a full or partial refund despite what I felt were extenuating circumstances.
We have always had good experiences at this store for our small projects and I think many of the employees are extremely friendly. But I was disappointed with this experience and the fact that an honest mistake wasn’t resolved in a meaningful way. We will likely look elsewhere for our paint needs in the future.
UPDATE: after receiving the response below I contact the phone number as indicated. I was routed to a call center where a representative reiterated that the estimates are only estimates and 'shouldn't be considered accurate'. I explained that I had already been made aware of this by the store managers. I'm not sure why the response to this review suggested I contact the company. Again, we have received good service at this store many times and were disappointed with this experience this time. The employees are friendly and helpful; I would only suggest if someone were to get an estimate for how much paint to purchase just remember that these estimates are not 'official'.

Had a wonderful experience at the Sherwin Williams store in Clinton, Iowa. Had 5 rooms to paint with no experience. Employees were very helpful picking out colors (giving me just enough gallons for everything) and were very knowledgeable. Employees voluntarily scanned a coupon they had, Davenport location did not do that for me. Overall great customer service

Didn't have the color stain I was looking for but they were able to custom make it for me after I was told at the Home Depot it could not be done.
