Very upset new customer here, shopping for another bank now. I opened a new account with 2 federal government checks and they said they'd need to hold them for 1 week since I'm a new customer. Ok, no problem I guess. 1 week later, I'm told they're not releasing funds until the following day at 3pm (more than 8 days later), supposedly because yesterday was a bank holiday and "they couldn't do anything about it" despite their promise they'd be available today. Also, the "Current balance" is not the same as "Available balance" which isn't shown on their site or app. You need to dig into the details to see if there is a "hold amount". Not obvious at all and shady that it's buried in the details sub-tab page.

Wonderful local bank that does a lot for the community and its people, and where good customer service still exists.

Our banker Jordan was great. He helped us set up accounts for our kids and made the whole process a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

If you don’t wear a suit and carry a briefcase you should probably avoid this branch. I have a business checking account, but I have shaggy hair and a beard so they always treat me like a vagrant here. I hand them my photo ID and debit card, but then they always ask for more verification. Trying to talk to anyone about it is pointless- they always tow the company line.I had a foot injury that forced me to limp around for awhile in a brace, with the aide of a cane. It was hard to walk. I needed to drop off a form they needed for my business checking account. They have these huge signs out front that say “Curbside Banking” with their number to call. Theoretically, they’re supposed to come and assist you. When I called the number a guy answered. I told him what was going on and why I was there. He said, “ yeah you can just bring that inside.” So I did. I limped all the way from the parking lot to the lobby with my form in the hand that wasn’t carrying the cane. I voiced my complaint to deaf ears. They couldn’t have cared less. Two years ago, I wanted to cash a check. I gave them my ID and debit card. Then they informed me that they were also calling the writer of the check to make sure he was aware I had a check he’d written. I guess I didn’t fit their mold of what a check casher should look like. They disguise this as “just being safe for their customers”, but they’re really just profiling me. Avoid the Coralville Hills Bank at all costs- unless you’re a clean shaven, well dressed, “business man” of course.

If your a business and you drive all the way to the bank at 8pm after work to drop off bank bag don’t you think when you pick up in the morning a hour after bank opens it would be ready? What’s the point of driving over after work late at night??

This is an amazing bank. They are equally equipped for exceptional personal, commercial and not-for-profit banking. They have an amazing suite of products to help small businesses and individuals thrive financially. They are amazing.

I regret going with Hills Bank for my home refinancing. Lender I worked with is very cunning and really how to cheat customers. She waited for us to sign the documents and next day she brought up hidden costs. When we wanted to withdraw she asked us to pay withdrawal fee.Extremely unhappy with the agent and feeling cheated.
