Excellent physical therapist in Jim Holte. Does dry needling and hand on physical therapy. Helped me manage and reduce pain to run my first half marathon

I joined Performance Health & Fitness 3 weeks ago and my experience there so far has exceeded my expectations. I took a tour of the facility, which is spacious and clean, and then took advantage of the free one week trial membership. I tried several classes and enjoyed them all so I joined at the Team Training level, which is basically small group personal training. The trainers and other members could not be more welcoming and I truly enjoy my morning workouts. I've lived in Iowa City for almost 30 years and this gym is a surprisingly wonderful find after all that time.

The gym is ok but the manager seems to have created a "privileged class" by calling his personal trainers "coaches" by giving them a few added 4 hour certifications. I don't know the original intent but what seems to be happening is that these "coaches" consider themselves to have special privileges that paying members do not have. I believe this is an effort by the manager to not have to deal with the members, instead letting these coaches deal with things as they see fit. These "coaches" don't know how to manage and the manager can't be bothered. Time to find another gym? Perhaps.

There is something for everyone regardless of age and if not, they will work with you to develop a personal plan. The staff and members are friendly and get know you. But there is also opportunity to exercise and go. When I came back after almost 2 years of pandemic, I was greeted by name and welcomed back. as much as I drug my feet returning, I am happy to sweat for a good reason again.

Good gym if you're looking for an overpriced kid to train you. Not to mention a few of the staff don't physically represent what fitness is. It's a millennial run place, and IS NOT for those old school lifters who love the iron. Recommend other gyms such as 5th street etc that offer 25/7 service and do not pass judgement as soon as you walk through the door. Oh and and soon as they get their member signed up, you basically don't exist, especially if you're not "paying" some kid to train you. Better options out there guys.

Me, my husband, and teenage daughter are all members of this awesome gym. While I'm not the fitness type and typically dread going to any gym, when we walk into this one we feel like family. We're always greeted warmly by the staff. I've worked with the nutritionist and Lynde the personal trainer. They have all sorts of awesome classes and equipment. I highly recommend them to help you reach your fitness goals or just to get you moving again!

Great place, nice staff, supportive people all around. Have gone for several years now. The trainers are really nice & introduced me to weight lifting which I never would have tried on my own! Even their custodian Julian is super friendly!

I love Performance for many reasons! #1 being the staff! Everyone is polite & helpful. All the trainers are very knowledgeable & willing to work with you & any special needs you have. I'm currently working with Kelsey-we have a group of ladies that meet at 6am T & Th. We get in a great workout and have a lot of fun doing it! The gym is very clean, reasonably priced. Now, if someone can please guide me to where the 30 day paleo diet challenge link is, I would appreciate it very much!!

I can't speak to the gym, but the Physical Therapy organization is amazing! I have seen Scott Harms a handful of times and my aching shoulder is SO much better. He took the time to understand my pain, my previous level of activity, and my future goals. During each step of his therapy, he explained what he was doing and how it would help. Scott also uses a technique called, "Dry Needling," which was incredible in releasing the muscles which had seized up. If you are in pain, check out Performance Therapies, you will be glad you did.
