I'm continuly disappointed with this bank. I stopped by Green state bank located in Coralville . This is my first visit to this location. This bank needs to train their employees about courtesy and manners pronto.I walked in guy behind the window was staring at me while I'm waiting for a sign from him telling he is free to assist. I approached to the window saying hello he didn't even bother to.make eye contact he just took my card and scanned. I asked him why would you do that before even asking what do I want? He was aggravated by questioning. I explained what I need, I asked for envelope for my cash money ,he just throw envelope on the counter and turn in his chair. I didn't have a time to ask for his Manager or Supervisor but I will definitely take my business elsewhere. Horrible banking just horrible. Got to the Hills bank or somewhere else. I regret opening account here.

I recently closed my checking account and was assured everything was taken care of, 2 months later I receive an alert from my credit monitor that Green State has placed a derogatory claim on my credit. When I called in there were 5 insufficient funds charges on the account that was supposed to be closed. Green State kept no record of my phone call or notes on the account that it was closed, even though they mailed me a check for the balance of the closed account. They now expect me to pay the charges in order to close the account. Do yourself a favor and use ANY other bank!

Not the old University of Iowa Credit union. Horrible service. Got my first CD. Didn't know it autorenewed (Not told, sure it's in the paper work somewhere). They renewed it at .3% when all other CDs are over 5%. Then charged me $70 to take it out. No sense of right or wrong with this credit union. Ethics is not a requirement. Just out to get you.

GreenState Credit Union doesn't reward excellent customers, they try to get them to believe a 20% DTI is too high for a credit line increase. Perfect payment history since account inception years ago. Perfect payment history on all my other accounts. Stop using algorithms and start using your brain. Bad business.

I would give Green State a negative star if I could. We first joined Green State (GS) in 2014 when we purchased a 2013 Honda Pilot and financed the loan through GS. We paid off the loan in full never missing a payment and we paid the loan ahead. Pleased with GS we opened checking and savings accounts with them. In 2021 we purchased a 2021 Honda CRV, we had a $15k down payment and financed the balance with GS. Again we never missed a payment and we paid the loan ahead. In May of 2023 the CRV was involved in an accident and was totaled with an outstanding loan balance of aprox $11K. Our insurance company made several attempts to get the loan payoff amount in writing and finally GS sent the insurance company an email with the information. Meanwhile Cameron from GS sends a very terse note advising us that we were responsible for any additional interest if GS didn't receive the payoff by a certain date even though GS wasn't timely in providing the information to the insurance company. We purchased a 2023 CRV at the end of June. Because of the payout from Insurance, we had a cash down payment of $28k. When seeking out financing for the remaining balance of $13k GS refused to approve the loan. The dealer couldn't believe this especially with a substantial down payment and our repayment history. We had many offers from other lenders and secured a loan at a lower interest rate and terms. Since we are in our 70's one can only wonder if this is AGE DISCRIMINATION on the part of GS. We are in the process of closing GS accounts and gladly sharing our experience with those we know.

There's a problem with my loan and I don't even know what it is because they won't answer the phone -- and even when they do, they don't know what the problem is, either. I also got the stupid loan insurance so missing a payment wouldn't destroy my life if I became gravely ill or something, but it didn't actually do anything. What am I paying almost $40 a month for...?

They set me up for late payments for over a year and told me it was my fault because I didn't call sooner when I had no knowledge of it. I have auto payments set up so I wouldn't get late fees! They only refunded the last 3 months. Ridiculous. I would give 0 stars if I could.

I have my truck loan through them, and I have had it for a almost a year, and each month it is something different between them pulling my payment, up to 3 times once, twice this month. I have set up auto pay multiple times, through the portal and that doesn't work, and I have had representatives "set it up" 3 different times now, and it is still not done correctly. The app doesn't work worth the space on my phone, the portal through the browser sucks, and nothing has been fixed, or solved on their end. I'm super disappointed. I want to be able to recommend them to others, because seem to have gotten it right with my Jeep loan. No issues there. They just can't seem to get my truck loan right, I have been dealing with it for nearly a year and I have tried to not be rude with anything about it, but enough is enough. Maybe if this gets fixed, I will change my review. If not I will have to see what the alternative options are.Edit:Within about 10 minutes of posting the Review, Jake, the branch manager reached out and I feel did everything in his ability to remedy the situation. I'm adjusting my rating from a 1 star to a 3. If the issue is in fact fixed within the next payment period, I will happily change my review again to a 5 star. I do appreciate Jakes understanding and professionalism with the situation. Hopefully it is finally fixed.

I've never worked with such a terrible bank. Unfortunately GreenState took over our loan when the credit union changed ownership so we inherited them. We planned to change banks but the interest rates have gone up so much we can't get a loan for anywhere close to what we have so we are stuck with them. They have made so many mistakes from closing documents being incorrect, not setting up the escrow correctly, mistakenly depositing my house payment to another person's account and then threatening me with a collection agency if I didn't make the payment (that they gave to someone else - thankfully I saved all of my deposit information and check number). Recently they sent me a threatening letter for maybe the 5th year in a row that stated I didn't provide proof of insurance - so I contacted my insurance company since this has been an ongoing issue on GreenState's part. Sure enough, my insurance company had indeed provided them the proof and somewhere they dropped the ball AGAIN. Seems like they have a habit of making mistakes and then following up with threats even when they are in the wrong. They also do nothing to correct their mistakes. I honestly wonder how they have stayed in business considering the number of mistakes they made on just one loan for us. I also wonder how they can make these types of mistakes without repercussions from oversight authorities and mainly it's because they are a credit union.

horrible horrible place to get a vehicle loan through, they fail to tell you all the stipulations they have including insurance. I did not have the correct insurance they desired on my loan so instead of calling me they put an additional 8k on my loan boosting my payment well over what I could afford at the time. I called customer service which told me I had to be delinquent on my payment in order for anyone to work with me. pretty much telling me I have to mess up my perfect credit history and face repossession of my vehicle in order for anyone to help me...and this is AFTER I proved to them I had the correct insurance..I'm not the only one this has happened too either. I am also sending this statement to the car dealerships in my area..I've already talked to a couple who told me to get online and make this review..I hope this helps someone else before they get scammed as well.
