Good amount to choose from it seems. Can’t cut your own ◠̈ walk out and pick it and they’ll bring it up. Takes the fun from it…. It should say on the website that you can’t cut your own?! teens helping in the lot are cussing while helping us, while we had our son standing with us. Also, paid $90 — yes NINETY for a 6’ small tree (had to pay for 7’. $12 a foot) because they measure to the top of the thin little “stick” at the top (the *leader*) which is literally a foot. I asked, they said “nope, that’s what we measure” and it’s from a precut section in the front that isn’t even from this farm…it was brought in Monday from Michigan. Super disappointed, won’t be back. I’ve added a photo so it is visible about the top of a tree versus the actual top of a tree… I think it’s completely insane that the top is counted how it is. We’ve sold trees before and I would never charge someone extra footage for a stick a person would be removing to add a star to the top. Hope this review helps and people decide to go somewhere else!

Would not go here to get a Christmas unless you want a pre cut tree. Went on December 8th, very few trees on the lot to pick from, only select trees to pick from, expensive, and you do not get to cut down your own tree. One employee told us we could get a tree from a certain lot, picked out a tree we liked and was informed by a different employee that those trees aren't available till next year. Very disappointed in the experience and it wasn't a close drive.

If you don't come in the first few days of the season they will be picked over and don't let you buy trees slated for next year even when they are 12 ft tall. Not a good intake system for knowing this before wandering around.

GREAT 1st date or family outing~ Something for everyone! Soooo much MORE than trees- animals, zip line, homemade delicacies, extensive gift shop and it's family owned. 'Iowa nice'

Wonderful experience buying our Christmas tree. The farm also offers excellent quality perennials and annuals, goat petting, and other activities throughout the year.

Christmas tree farm is great; however, the tree farm also provides trees for your yard. Chris is great to work with!

Love this place! We come every year with the kids to pick our tree. Great selection of trees to tag or pre-cuts at great prices. Also plenty of other decorations, decor, and assorted items. They have a super cute shop, plenty of fun activities for the kiddos, and goats that love being petted. Come at the right time and you can snuggle the babies, too! The staff is super friendly and helpful. We just love everything about Howell Tree Farm, and highly recommend anyone and everyone go at least once.

Just got a Christmas tree at Howells today and it was a mixed experience. It was all a bit chaotic, and there wasn't any explanation on how the whole process was supposed to work. It was hard to identify employees because there was no sort of uniform or other form of identification. We felt a bit frazzled the whole time, but we did get a nice tree so that's cool.
