My friend and I were driving from Pennsylvania to Nebraska on a motorcycle trip and stopped here for breakfast. We like the backroads of America and I always look for the 'off the beaten path' Diners. This place was amazing. Connie, who was cooking, was also cebrating her birthday and shared her B0Day cake with us, before breakfast. Her side kick was Wanda. Two absolutely wonderful Ladies. And breakfast, superb. Thank You for the memories.

This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. I had lunch on a Friday when the specials were deep fried chicken strips or deep fried cod. Since I don't each fish, I opted for the chicken. I was served two nice size pieces that were very tasty. The meal comes with a choice of THREE sides. I opted for potato salad, green beans and cherry cheesecake. The sides were excellent. This place is popular with the locals and it appears they all know each other. Doesn't look like much from the outside but don't pass this place.

drove the jefferson highway from bethany north into Iowa. thought I would go to Leon , ia when I came across the Dinky Diner . I love old restaurants and this is a treasure. I hate that I did not know this is just off I-35 and driven by for years. Owner and waitress were super friendly and tenderloin wa. s the best I can remember. It was my birthday and this just made my day ! Lets support this blast from the past. I will now take friends and family here regularly. worth the drive from Des Moines or anywhere!

People giving this little diner 1 or 2 stars are reviewing it like it’s some Michelin reviewed restaurant. It’s a diner. It’s small town. It’s good comfort food, made from scratch. They don’t make them like this anymore. Your grandma’s cooking with no frills and friendly home town “cozy” eating. You’re missing out if you don’t give it a try. Love it. Dinky Diner is small town comfort food at its rare best. Eat pie.

Sad to say, because I love little one of a kind diners, but I would skip this one folks! The name is very appropriate as it is tiny as they get. The service is prompt and friendly but that's about it for the pluses. The whole place is in a stare of disrepair. Rusty fixtures and broken booths, condensation on the windows from lack of ventilation or insulation. Ordered coffee which was only .75 but they only have powdered creamer. Butter spread, not butter in the heartland, really? My sisters French toast was soggy and bacon limp. My hash browns were certainly not brown or even edible. Surprised that this place has good reviews. We stopped because of cute name and good reviews but hurried out as quickly as possible. If you are in the mood for mediocre food and an adventure that's what you will get here.

This place is poorly kept. They were out of lettuce and mashed potatoes. I really wanted a salad had to settle for a burger. Not happy

A real treat for me when I come visit my boyfriend while he is hunting down here. Their breakfast is my favorite! Like eating at Grandmas house. Limited seating but worth the wait.

Traditional small town cafe. Full of locals talking about what the neighbors have been up to and other daily events. Food and the service were good. The restaurant was a bit run down and the menus needed replaced due to their condition. We arrived a little late for breakfast, so we settled for lunch. Good burgers, chicken strips and the ham on the club sandwich was thick cut. I would like to stop ba k by and try breakfast.

One star is probably too generous. The diner was so humid that the windows all had condensation on the inside. The smell of food due to no ventilation may never leave us and the food was subpar, and it took a really long time to get our food. The sausage was burnt and my omelette had runny white uncooked egg. I am baffled that this place has a 4 star rating.

Great stop for travelers...right off Interstate 35! Try the pan fried chicken with homemade bread...and save room for a slice of pie! Friendly people.....including waitress and the locals! Check out their daily specials!
