Have stayed at Hotel Winn several times and it's always a nice experience. Such a beautiful historic hotel and decorated tastefully.Disappointed with the front desk employee when we checked in. Needs a personality, not a good "face" for such a fine hotel.

A beautiful very well maintained historic hotel. The wood work and art is exceptional. The room was top notch and clean. We will stay here again!

Had a reunion in the Steyer Opera house. Very nice faculty for our group of 120. Food was a little pricey for what you paid.

One of the coolest hotels I've stayed in. Clean, great bathrooms, and great architecture in a cool small town. Loved staying here. Good continental breakfast too.

Clean rooms with good decor. Excellent bathroom. Located in the heart of Decorah. Breakfast was quite good. Plenty of nearby activities for the outdoorsy type. I came for a wedding in Cresco. I would love to come back to this very good hotel. Quiet too!! Photos taken near the hotel within walking distance. Also the lovely bathroom!

The temperature is very difficult to adjust in the room. It's 90⁰F outside and we're freezing in our room. The bed and pillows are VERY soft. The staff is nice. The building is clean. The Continental breakfast was as much as we needed. Nothing fancy, but just right. The location is perfect for visiting Decorah.

If you are planning a stay in Decorah, or even that part of Northern Iowa, then do yourself a favor and try the Winneshiek. The rooms have a bit of an intentionally dated style in keeping with the rest of the property, but they are very clean and well designed. There is no restaurant on-site, but plenty of options nearby, and the bar downstairs is quaint and good for a quiet conversation. Highly recommended!Walkability: In the middle of everything on River Street, walkable to almost everything including neighborhood restaurants and sports bars.

The Hotel Winneshiek's claim to fame is that several presidents have slept there (most recently President Obama). It's historic charm in downtown Decorah is inviting and encourages you to explore the downtown shops that line the main drag. Decorah is a very friendly small town with variety of gift shops and specialty stores. When visiting you will have the option of staying at a chain hotel on the outskirts of town and visiting the Walmart that is nearby. The more enjoyable option is to stay here and support the restaurants and shops that are within walking distance of the hotel. You might be surprised, but price is virtually the same.

Great historic hotel in a great location but not much for amenities. It is where I stay in Decorah.
