Such an inviting place.Wonderful and obviously compassionate and passionate staff when it comes to the animals left in their care. I wish people were more responsible when it comes to animals, but as they are not, Dubuque Humane is a clean, welcoming, and comfortable place for our canine and feline friends to go and wait for their forever homes. ❤️

My hubby adopted a cat in August (secretly; I found out after I got an email that said “here are your adoption papers” lol). Well, I get home and this cat has her third eye showing and scabs in her ears. (They told him she was fine and the scabs were from playing with the other cats).Took her to the vet 2 weeks later and she was diagnosed with RINGWORM and an eye infection!! we have 4 other cats well $900 and 6 weeks later, after separating our healthy cats (2) and our ringworm cats (3), disinfecting and deep cleaning the house 4 times we got rid of it.Called the humane society and they told us our cats at home must have given the new cat ringworm and we can’t prove we got it from there.Guess what y’all, our cat must have been GROUND ZERO!! Because pet-smart, (who sells cats for the humane society) told us they had a ringworm outbreak. If they could have just apologized and offered to test our cats for free, this review would have gone entirely different. I support the humane society and what they do for animals, but accountability is a desirable trait. Photos are before and after the ringworm and eye infection treatment. (Like… it is clear the cat was sick when they sold her to us).

I've adopted multiple animals from the shelter and it has usually been a good process. I adopted a dog recently for 225 dollars. That is alot when the dog has to have immediate medical care. She was sent with such a bad ear infection that it cost as much to treat the infection as it did to adopt her. They also never preformed a heart worm or lyme disease test on the dog that came in as a stray, so I had to come out of pocket for that also to be sure she is safe. Be careful because they will not accept responsibility for the added fees if the dog has already left with you

Don't write a 2 star review. I got a call about taking down the review. So I took it down and canceled any future donations. So, much for honest feedback to make the organization better.

We got our dog here and the staff is extremely friendly. Our dog is in great shape. It seems to be pretty clean and all of the volunteers are really nice and the animal seem happy.

5 stars for everything they do for the animals but very disappointed in customer service. My daughter did a fundraiser to raise money for animals and wanted to donate to the humane society. I stopped by to grab what we needed for flyers and promoting etc and they said they could not help us out. They didn’t even seem to care that a child was excited to raise money to help animals. We ended up going with the Jackson County Humane Society. We walked in and they were extremely thankful she wanted to help. They gave her a tour to see the animals and even let her interact with them. They gave us a huge sighn to use and jars to collect the money. I really am disappointed on how the Dubuque regional humane society shot my daughter’s excitement down.

Overall I had a great and easy experience adopting my cat! Staff was friendly and accommodating. While checking out the staff informed me of a parasite my cat had and that it was treated. Shortly after bringing her home I could tell it was not treated. My poor cat could not keep food down and slept all day. She was dehydrated and malnourished. After spending $600 at the vet they found the rot cause. The humane society only treated the parasite and not the cause. The parasite just came back. I am very unhappy having to spend so much on a cat that was suppose to be healthy. The humane society’s inaccurate information costed me and my cat to suffer.

They'll keep your money if you put a deposit down on a dog and your dog doesn't get along with the one you're trying to adopt. TELL PEOPLE IT'S NON-REFUNDABLE before you take their credit card. Communication is key to having happy customers. Not a very pleasant receptionist either.Edit: I get that it says it on your form but I didn’t sign a form nor was I told about your policy.
