KE Black Mercantile is a wonderful independent gourmet kitchen store and coffee shop in a small town atmosphere, a definite gem in the country worth a special drive. The shop is very comfortable and nice, filled with a fantastic selection of unique and different kitchen equipment, gadgets, wares, tools, and gift ideas from local vendors, with many useful and everyday items neatly organized. It also features a lovely selection of wines, craft beers, dip mixes, and glassware that is hard to find in rural Iowa. The business offers a perfect small town place for lattes, coffee, smoothies, and frappes, with coffee worth the drive. The food menu has great options, including fresh baked in-house pastries and lunch for take-out, dine-in, or dining on the outside patio. The service is outstanding, with a friendly owner and staff. It is not a place to visit in a rush, but rather to sit, relax, and enjoy the comfortable, welcoming feeling that makes it so special.
Careful about this place, the sandwiches are so good you’ll end up spending all your money there!

Stopped in for lunch. Very clean, nicely decorated small dining area. The menu was refreshing. The food and service was excellent. If you need any kitchen utensils or accessories, they have it. They have everything for cooking, baking and lots of spices and condiments. Very interesting place to visit.

KE Black is consistently EXCELLENT. The food and drinks are incredible, they have such a great variety of kitchen supplies and tools (perfect for gifts too), and everyone who works there is wonderful. If you're in Dysart, you must stop by. If you aren't, it's absolutely worth a detour to visit!
