Hard to beat the Hobo's bread, baked potatoes, or crinkle fries. My husband loves #32, but they don't have it on the menu anymore. But this store will make it for you!

We always enjoy the texture and freshness of the bread and the abundance of the fillings. Baked potatoes are huge.

Hungry Hobo is a great place for a quick sub. The bread is made fresh and super soft. The grilled cheese and tomato soup is my absolute favorite. It's definitely a winner in my book.

I have to admit that the originality of this place is pretty good. For example, since I've never been here before but I love Ruben sandwiches, and I see Ruben on the menu I have to say I was excited to try one. Instead, what I got was a plain untoasted, ungrillled, and tbh dry piece of bread surrounding a glob of high expectations that fell so short of my hopes that I took one bite then asked for my money back. Is this an Iowa thing to serve Ruben's on stale dry ungrilled bread? I'm just traveling through so maybe the other multitude of Ruben's I've eaten over my lifetime had it wrong? Who knows. Staff was friendly and quickly responded to my request. Not a place I would ever stop at again, who knows what other strange and unique creations they have, but I for one will never find out. Seriously, who doesn't grill a Ruben??

Hungry Hobo used to be Little Kings when I was a teenager in Rock Island. Everytime I go back to the Quad Cities I eat at Hungry Hobo at least once a day (usually lunch). No one can compare! They are better than Subway, Fireside, Jimmy John's etc. etc. Their bread is the best and you get great value for your $.Vegetarian options: All veggies are available.Kid-friendliness: Mostly booths and there is separation so other diners aren't disturbed by kids being kids.Parking: In Le Claire, Iowa there are ample parking places and it's right off the Mississippi River...beautiful views.Wheelchair accessibility: Complies with the ADA.

Great basic American food you can only get in Iowa. I recommend stopping by.
