Fort Defiance State Park is a beautiful and well-maintained natural oasis. The park boasts a newly restored lodge, perfect for gatherings, and numerous hiking trails that wind through the lush landscape. Visitors can enjoy camping, both with and without electrical hookups, as well as grilling in the clean, trash-free area near the lodge. The park is dog-friendly, with a path along the creek and prairie that's perfect for an afternoon stroll, though the bugs can be a nuisance. For the adventurous, the park offers excellent mountain biking opportunities, with twisting trails and the potential for further development.
The campground was primitive, but the experience was amazing. We were camped on a hilltop covered with majestic oak trees surrounded by a sea of green prairie and farmland. The play of light and shadow through the trees was magical. I wanted to hug every tree goodbye when it was time to go.

Very solid overall state park. This state park has some decent elevation changes in certain areas. We parked in one of the parking lots, and hiked down the valley in the woods towards the river, and it definitely had some great elevation changes. My favorite part of the park is the swing that overlooks down into the valley.

This place is absolutely beautiful! It is so gorgeous that it is easy to get lost in exploring it (we did, for a bit lol)
The area up by the lodge where you can park and grill was clean and trash-free.
