Akar is a great little gem in Iowa City, just off downtown. It is a beautiful store with an eclectic collection of high-quality items, from unique pottery and strong ceramics selections to fun items, jewelry, pens, seasonal decor, and interesting tchotchkes. The store is well laid out, displayed, and curated like an art museum, with wonderful ceramics on display. It is a perfect place to find a special gift, where you can appreciate the merchandise layers over a couple of visits. The workers are super friendly.
