Truck was dirty and said it was due for an oil change. The beat up, rusted car carrier broke down 700 miles from my destination. They told me they couldn't switch it out until sometime the next day. So I didn't even get the use of the trailer for almost half my trip. Someone else had to drive the car I didn't want the additional miles on. Go somewhere else.

Horrible customer service. Made reservations online only to be informed that one must be 25 to rent the truck even though the reservation went through no problem with the information of the driver provided. Upon questioning the front desk, she then changed the age to 21 and then told us to call customer service to verify it's 21.Called customer service. Initially, the representative said it was 18, and then I told him she said 25, then changed it 21, and he then changed the age and said whatever the location stated.The second issue with this rental company is that when making an online reservation, it states nothing about insurance coverage and the type one needs. Instead, you'll arrive at the center to be told you need to fill out this form regarding your insurance or purchase Budget's insurance coverage. The front desk person will tell you that "most insurance don't cover rental vehicles," and I have found this to be false, providing one has full coverage on their personal vehicle. This information is not provided anywhere online.Lastly, the front desk personnel was rude and interrupted us when we were explaining the online reservation.I will never recommend renting from Budget due to these issues.

My roommate and I tried to rent a moving TRUCK with a few days notice. We booked the truck for Iowa City with hopes to have it the next day. In the am we called, emailed, and left voice messages multiple times but no answer. We then looked to see where to go and the company had changed our reservation from a truck to a van. AND they also moved our location from Iowa City to Cedar rapids. My roommate then again tried to call and once again no answer. We had no other choice but to cancel considering we could not speak to anyone and they completely derailed our reservation. We were then charged a 75$ cancellation fee. This company is not worth even trying with. Save your time.

You can rent here if you want, but my experience has turned me off of Budget permanently. I recommend U-Haul or Penske if you want to schedule a vehicle in advance. I rented a truck in March 2023, paid for it and received a confirmation, received the receipt, and was ready to go. The day before I was to get the truck in May, I got an email reminding me that I had a rental the next day, another email asking if I wanted the insurance, and then two emails telling me that my truck was canceled.Phone calls to this location goes straight to voicemail that is always full - what a joke. Calls to the various Budget customer service numbers could get transferred to dead ends. Eventually reach someone who told me that budget would fund up to $250 above a different rental with the competitor and I had to do was send them the receipt. That's not much help when you have to move.What inspired to spend three minutes of my life sharing my experience was getting a notification that Budget's email servers refused to accept my email asking what happened to my rental. Budget is not a good choice, especially this Budget.

VERY VERY bad experience. My reservation was placed 2 months in advance and I received a confirmation email.BUT, I got a cancellation email before my move. I called them, they said there is no available truck at that time !!!Why did you confirm my reservation at the time of booking????Don't trust them.

Budget is an abomination. I have my reservation placed 3 months in advance. My reservation got cancelled 48 hours before my move, they sent me the email stating that without explaining why. I have to call them 3 times. The first time they said: "We have nothing available, sorry". The second time they transferred me to customers support. Customers support escalated my case to some higher level and told me: "We will try to find you a replacement truck and give you a call back in 15 minutes - 2 hours". After 3 hours of waiting, I haven't heard from them, after that, I gave them a call again. The last call ends up that they don't have anything available (again), and they suggest that they will pay me the difference if another company gives me a higher rate. It is very convenient for them, knowing the fact that is nothing available in Iowa City and close by.Why do they even have reservations if they cannot fulfill them?I would give Budget 0 stars!!!!!! Terrible service, they don't care about customers at all.

My daughter reserved a truck in March to be picked up tomorrow, July 24th. She got a call today, July 23rd, that said they don't have any trucks available. Good for her reserving her truck 4 months in advance. Shame on Budget for taking her deposit and not making arrangements to live up to their side of the deal. Shady, shady business practices. ...absolutely despicable. Never again Budget.

They cancelled my reservation with less than 24 hours notice because they "didn't send enough trucks out" This was during moving season in Iowa City so there were no rentals left available and then proceeded to offer me no help. Do not rent from these guys. Please avoid this nightmare scenario for yourself.

I almost want to give 0 star. Very poor customer service and not true to what they advertise. I made a reservation for a specific car which showed available online. I get there early in the morning and they told me they don’t have that car so they can offer me another one but its not clean. So i told them I will take it if they can just vacuum the inside since it had hair all over. The lady said no, I’ll have to wait for 3 more hrs since other cars are getting detailed. So I was just thinking as she was putting my ID card and I said to my friend that I almost feel like trying another place. The lady just stopped and just handed me my card. I bet this is a very good way to get customers lol. I’ve alway heard negative reviews about them, I just experienced it myself

I had a truck reserved and called to make sure I could get bench seat instead of bucket seats. They were very rude when telling me I could not request a bench seat. Customer service number give u people who dont speak english very well and they wont transfer to a supervisor when needed. I cancelled my reservation and took my business else where.

Rented a truck online 2 months ago to move next week. Called Budget to change my reservation by a day and they said they needed to escalate my call to the Logistics person. The Logistics person called (New Jersey number) and said they don't have ANY trucks in Iowa City (even to cover my original reservation) so he's canceling my reservation and I'm out of luck. He tells me the terms and conditions don't guarantee equipment, just the rate - so I ask, what's the point of making a reservation when you aren't actually reserving anything?! Absolutely terrible customer service.

Horrible experience, not worth it even if saving a few bucksLocal staff members were nice to me but communication was lacking and my renting experience was overall horrible1- Picking up the truck was a hassle. I booked for truck + car carrier + hand dolly. Budget called me the day of my reservation (last minute) just to tell me that car carrier and hand dolly are not available although I made my reservation several weeks ahead. I wanted to get a car carrier from U-Haul but l eventually learned that they don't fit on Budget trucks. I tried to see if I can cancel whole reservation and get a similar reservation from U-Haul but U-Haul had no trucks immediately available on same day. I ended up wasting my time and going to U-Haul on my extremely busy day of moving in order to rent one of their hand dollies, and thankfully they had some. I wasted more time complaining to a budget supervisor who then shipped a car carrier from a different location the same day. I don't know why did they need me to call a supervisor if they can do that!?2-Truck condition was bad. Old, not well maintained. Pets hairs inside main cabin. Steering wheel pad ripped off at the bottom. Very loud noises in the cabin. Truck storing compartment had dirt on floor.3- Drop off experience was not pleasant either. I arrived before the time allocated to me but then found that local store is already closed. Then I found that Budget email provided me with a wrong time because local store closes one hour prior to that time. I called budget and asked them if I can leave the truck at store location and drop off the keys but they said no you cannot do that and the truck is your responsibility. They planned to charge me for an additional day because I arrived "too late" despite me explaining to them I followed exact times showing on my reservation. Eventually I took the truck back home then someone called me that he will reopen the local store after hours because they need the truck for another customer tomorrow morning, and he actually told me I could have parked the truck after hours at the local store and dropped off the keys. So I wasted time and gas driving it back to local store, reloading and offloading my personal car from the car carrier each time I went to the local store.In short, completely disorganized company !

Both ladies very friendly, super nice. very good deal better than other rentals in area. Upgraded due to lack of car I reserved which was great. Only negative was the cars antenna was broke didn't have radio the whole trip. But due to their great customer service they still get 5 Stars

The lady working didn't seem interested in getting us a vehicle. I think we interrupted her phone time. It is located in a dealership. Most uncomfortable I've ever been. She acted like she was doing us a favor just by talking to us. We didn't rent anything from her. We found a better establishment.
