The man was too busy doing nothing to wait on anyone. Several people were trying to rent a car but he didn't care. I would give him 1/2 a star if I could. Some people just left without even waiting for him to help any of us. Finally we did too.

I rented from Hertz the first time at Love Field in Dallas TX in 1971. Subsequently I rented from Hertz all over this country and countries in Europe, South America and Asia. Before I retired, my company spent somewhere between $75 and $155 million dollars a year with Hertz. In my last few years of work I actually helped craft and negotiate out contract with Hertz. I'm writing this note today to let Hertz know I will not be using them going forward. Admittedly, I have not been happy in the past with rentals from the Coralville location but wrote off my dissatisfaction as dealing with young people not experienced in business practices or basic courtesy. However, my most recent rental was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I arrived for an 8:00AM pick-up only to find no one in the office. At 8:17AM a young man walked into the office and asked me what I wanted. They couldn't find my reservation. They couldn't find the car they wanted to give me. When they finally found the car they spent another 10 minutes taking pictures of the car from every perspective they could. The car was filthy. The windshield was so dirty on the inside I could barely see where I was going and there was bright sunshine out side. I took the car to a car wash and then took it home and spent 30 minutes cleaning the windows so I could drive to Chicago safely. So, not that they care that much, but Hertz will no longer benefit from my business.

The representative from this location was great so the only reason they received any stars, but this car was FILTHY inside and out! To pay $200 for a 24 hour one way rental and to get it looking like this was unbelievable. I had to pull over to get something to clean the inside windshield so I could see out of it.Also, no transponder for Illinois tolls is not acceptable. I should not have to go into the Illinois toll service to pay the toll so I'm not charged $6.00+ per toll through Hertz.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This is hands down the absolute worst place to rent a car from. If you have the option please go literally ANYWHERE else. If you are renting from them, make sure you return it at a time during open business hours and take the key inside. I rented my car at 830 AM on a Friday to be returned at 8AM Saturday, the next day. We got back into town late Friday night, so instead of waking up early to return at 8AM, I placed keys and rental agreement in the drop back around 1AM Friday night/Saturday morning. When the location opened Saturday morning, they failed to get my keys from the Dropbox and did not end my reservation. I was then charged $100 Saturday and $100 sunday when the car was STILL not returned, I even called 24 hour customer service and they left a note for them to close out the reservation. By 11Am Monday morning, I was charged another $100 and the reservation was STILL not closed. I then had to call the location for over 30 minutes to get ahold of someone and tell them to end my reservation! They are only open 9am-12pm on Saturday and closed Sundays and will not check in your car until Monday whenever they feel like it. Your card will get charged an extra $100 everyday that they fail to finish your return. When asked who was working Saturday morning that failed to return my rental, I was told it was the branch manager Christian working! Which is even better. This place sucks from employees all the way to management.

Walked in with my 5 and 9 year old nieces at about 12:50pm for my 1pm pick-up. No other customers there. Waited 11 minutes for the counter rep to finish and then also make another quick call. I had a reservation online for Friday May 12th - Monday May 14th. He said they were overbooked and he couldn't guarantee me a vehicle until Monday.... We got dropped off there... I asked him what we were supposed to do without a vehicle? He said we could call an uber.... He also gave me a pamphlet and circled the worldwide phone number for me to call and try and cancel because he said he couldn't do it in his system. Had to get an uber to get to my ortho appointment and then another from there to my family's place.Absolutely horrible experience and I had to spend more money for Ubers

I cannot recommend this location enough! Our cars were affected by the tornado that came through about a month ago and I’ve had to use Hertz several times since. The staff is AMAZING! Christian especially has been so friendly and patient with all my questions. Thank you guys for turning a stressful situation into an positive experience!

I had a good experience. Christian was helpful, and they gave me a ride back to the body shop to pick up my car at the end. I especially appreciated that they didn't try to upsell me to a larger car or pressure me to buy insurance that I didn't need, something that most agencies seem to do.

I had a car rental booked for Saturday and return Monday. Went in to pick it up everything was going smoothly. Until the guy went to tell me my price. I was already spending $250. But apparently there’s a $200 deposit which I wasn’t aware of when I was booking it online. He quoted me $450 plus I said well with the Credit Card I’m paying with that amount wouldn’t go through. The guy was just well….. I said I have cash I can give you but that’s it. “If I would have known about the deposit I wouldn’t have booked” the guy didn’t bother to work with me at all. It was my first time booking with them and he let me walk. Well now I got charged a no show charge bc I didn’t pick up my rental. Unfortunately that’s not my fault. I’m being penalized for something that I shouldn’t be penalized for. I tried calling and speaking to someone got out on hold 15 mins and disconnected. Called back, the guy that answered asked to put me on hold I I stated to how long I was on hold for and he said “I’m sorry we just have a line of people right now.”and got put on hold and then someone picked up to put me back on hold was on hold for 25 mins. This is the worst service I had. Especially being a first time customer. I won’t be back and it’s sad I choose to rent from y’all is bc enterprises system was down and the next affordability. But they’ve never treated me like this.!

Poor service! Car wasn’t cleaned and smelled like dog saliva. Definitely suggest you do a thorough inspection before taking the car. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else to rent a car!

I have been a long time customer of Hertz and realize one location is just one small representation of a company, however extremely disappointed. I reserved car on my account for my son out of state, provided my son with credit card number but they are unable to manually enter the card number without the physical card for deposit?? Seriously? If they would call me, I could authorize whatever they needed, electronically wire, whatever...... Of course they don't call. Instead, I try to call them. No answer for over an hour. Ridiculous.

I don’t like to give reviews. Worse experience ever. Impossible to reach by phone. When I arrived the day I was to get my car back no one was available to drive me to get it even though I had made arrangements the day before. I drove myself to the auto repair shop and was told to leave rental there and they would pick it up later. That was 10 days ago and it’s still sitting there. I just got a call from Hertz Corporate that my rental was overdue! It will be resolved but what a nightmare!

The fellas that work there are always pleasant, my only qualm is that the cars I've rented have not been the cleanest (stains, dog hair, etc)

Austin was such a great help! He went above and beyond to make sure that my experience with Hertz was top notch. I would recommend this location to absolutely anyone, especially working with Austin!!

Office is absolutely filthy - I pointed out a blood smear on the front of the counter to an employee and they basically shrugged. It still wasn't taken care of when I returned. Debit card machines are literally crusty, and the computer terminals behind the counter have a halo of dirt where hands touch most often. This place is gross and employees seem completely apathetic. If you want to rent a car with a chance of being clean, do not go here.

It's impossible to get a hold of anyone at the office. I was told to call when I needed a ride from the body shop and no one answered the phone for hours!Hertz main customer service was also not helpful and hug up on me several times.
