The Iowa City Downtown District offers a variety of shops, businesses, restaurants, and outdoor attractions. Because an effort has been made to expand residential housing options in the downtown area, it has become a vibrant community. Some cities have a 'business park' feel to their downtown areas and become empty, like a closed amusement park in evenings and weekends. With cities like Iowa City, the living and working space is combined so activities continue outside the normal work-week hours. This makes it a nicer place for those who work and/or live there.

The best fries, baklava, soup, and falafel in town! Seriously, I pine for those fries. The owners are wonderful people and regularly give back to the community. Highly recommended!

I love Oasis. I've lived in Ann Arbor and DC and I think this is the best falafel I've had.

Great spot for veg forward lunch. With covid their hours are finicky and I can never seem to make it for dinner with my long work hours but the hummus falafel pita sandwiches are on point. Get the mango sauce and side of fries!

So so good! I always get the full sized falafel pita. It's very filling and delicious. The price is super reasonable as well. I could seriously eat here everyday. It's yummy and fresh!

Oasis is one of my go to places when I am looking for a meal I know is going to be solid. I am by no means a falafel expert but after trying the "best falafel" in New York City and Chicago I still prefer Oasis. Their menu is currently somewhat limited and they are open limited hours but they are still a must try, they are one of the closest restaurants to my apartment and seriously the first things on my cons list for moving. They are currently only doing to go and delivery orders, and being very cautious with Covid which as someone who works in a hospital I can truly appreciate, so bring a mask.

One of the families favorite spots in Iowa City great food friendly staff and the owners are pillars in the community. The mango sauce is awesome as is the falafel pita chips and eggplant. Can't go wrong at Oasis and the hummus is out of site and available at local grocery stores.

Oasis Falafel it's a fantastic place! Get the lamb pita if you're a meat eater. Their falafel is fantastic as well. I like to order in advance over the phone because the line can get pretty long at lunch time, but they sure can crank it out. I wish they'd open one in Richmond VA, so I didn't have to drive 16 hours for their Pita Chips!
