Andrew is amazing! We definitely had a great connection when I did my hair in September during the Redken training class. He hears what I want and like and came up with the best look for me. I have finally found a stylist that's the best fit for me.

Calling All Blondes!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chicha Barnes just started at Bang Salon Navy Yards!! If you can grab an appointment with her, Chicha does the most incredible highlights I've EVER had in my life, which includes swanky salons in LA & NYC that she puts to shame! And it's not just highlights and blondes, as I've seen her chop off and pop a new color or style on a client, and it's life changing. Chicha, you are on ANOTHER LEVEL! See you again soon at Bang!

I love the haircut Katie gave me today! She knew how to work with my hair and gave me tips for styling at home. I'm impressed with her knowledge and technique. I will definitely be a repeat client. Dianne

I highly recommend this location if you want great customer service, a clean environment, and if you want to walk out of the salon feeling confident and beautiful! It's been a long time since I've had my hair cut and I was very nervous and picky about where I wanted to get my haircut from. I'm not from the DMV area so I had to really do my research and I'm so glad I landed on this place! I ended up getting my hair cut from Cassandra who was so nice and patient with me when I was showing her all my inspo pics. Cassandra knew what face framing layers I needed and she really took the time to listen to what I asked for. My hair looks and feels so much more healthier now. Unlike all the other terrible haircut experiences I've had, I walked out of Bang salon feeling like a brand new person and as if my hair was given the TLC it needed after a long time.

I found Bang online when looking for somewhere to get my hair done in Navy Yard after moving here. A full 5 stars on the hair services I received. Cherelle is thorough, friendly, consultative, and somehow makes an appointment I usually dread fly by. I came in with split ends that could kill and I didn't get any of the judgmental comments that stylists at other salons have given me in the past. I left feeling great and will come back to her for everything. If I could separately give a rating for the service at the desk, I would give a 1. A certain male whose name I think was Dave was extremely curt during the check in process and during payment. During my appointment I also observed him approaching various folks on the floor and asking them if they were almost done while the client sat right there. It was bizarre and unprofessional behavior to witness. That man aside, I will be back to Bang.

Although this was over a year ago, I am still experiencing the damage so I wanted to make sure other people were aware. I am not sure whether it was this particular hairdresser, the location, or just Bang in general but this was the worst salon I have ever been to. I was looking for a good salon nearby my apartment as I had just moved to DC from my hometown for college. I had consistently been to a few different salons in my hometown and had mostly great experiences. Going into this, I had healthy, long, thick, dirty blonde, and curly hair that had been demi colored a few tones darker for winter. The color was washed out for the most part and I was ready to go back to my natural hair color. I told the hairdresser what my hair's history was and what exactly I wanted done, which was a dye removal or a gloss to even out my roots to revert back to my natural tone with a curtain bang cut. I have done this multiple times before and there were no problems. He insisted that what I asked for was impossible and that he would need to lighten it with dye. I went along with it because I showed him pictures of what I wanted and he said he could do it. I decided to trust him even though it was my first time in a new salon. He started to lighten my hair and as I have A LOT of hair on my head, naturally it took a while. I was confused as to why he was dying my whole head but I decided to trust the process. My head started to burn very intensely so I asked him why it hurt my scalp and eyes so much and he said it was because bleach does that. I want to be clear that bleach was never mentioned before he started doing it. I don't know much about hair as I haven't gotten anything other than demi color or gloss ever, but I feel like the customer should consent to it before it goes on your head. Anyways, I said that I didn't want bleach and he basically laughed it off and said it was too late to change it. I was hoping and praying that the bleach wouldn't ruin my hair. He left me for it to sit for an hour and my scalp felt like it was on fire. He took the foils out and then washed my hair. I took my phone and looked in the selfie camera to see that my hair was genuinely YELLOW. He told me that it would be fine and put some red watery toner in it. This turned it ORANGE. He asked how I wanted it styled straight or curly and I was flabbergasted to say the least. He started brushing my hair and as I asked him for another toner because I didn't want to leave like that, my hair just started falling out. He talked me into a Olaplex treatment should help because my hair was technically 'virgin' hair as it had never been exposed to high amounts of ammonia before. I desperately agreed and he put it in and left me in the heat dryer for another hour. He washed it out and put toner in after. It was a better shade but still way more gold than what I had asked for. He gave me the brush to brush my hair out and MORE hair came out. He started to cut and asked me how long I wanted my curtain bangs, I asked for around my chin because my hair is curly and it will get shorter with the cut. I told him layers around my face and just a trim. My hair was to my mid to lower back and he had cut it to shorter than where my chest is. The bangs were shorter than what I had said and chunky. He styled it to look decent but it felt extremely damaged/short from the pieces that fell out and where he cut it. I had gotten to the salon at 1:15 for my appointment but didn't leave until 8:15, I was the last person there. To top it all off I had to pay $300 with tip for it all. I've been to numerous hairdressers since and they all say that I was ripped off and that he shouldn't have a cosmetology license. I still am dealing with the damage a year and a half later, as the bleach ruined my natural curl pattern, half of my head is a different length than the other, and it's still damaged no matter what I do to it. I hope he's been fired since honestly, if you read this far have a great day! And f*ck Bang Salon :)

- Salon was dirty, many stations hadn't been swept or wiped up and the stations were disorganized and cluttered. - I felt like my stylist was very rushed, and while I very much enjoyed chatting with her, I do not like my haircut. It is uneven and choppy and much shorter than I had hoped. - The receptionist was kind of rude; not overtly so, but just very short and seemed unprofessional. I am really disappointed. I am new to down, and this salon is in my neighborhood so I was hoping it could be my new salon. Unfortunately, not only have I spent a bunch of money on a hair cut that basically ruined my hair, now I will also need to spend even more money to get another cut to try and fix it. Im just really frustrated.

Katie Spear was amazing and was so quick. I came in with a 6 month old balayage and told her generally what I wanted. I've never had my hair look so good and it only took around 2 hours WITH a blow dry and cut. I'm amazed and very happy. I will definitely be a repeat customer. Thank you so much Katie!!!!

Katie immediately knew how to fix my hair that I got done at another salon and was unhappy with, and it turned out amazing! Highly recommend!
