Very enjoyable weekend getaway. Would recommend going on Friday, stay at the Hotel Manning, and then spend the day seeing the villages on Saturday. Most shops close Saturday at 5PM and are not open on Sundays. Visit their website to see if there are weekend events. Overall a great weekend!

My wife and I absolutely love this area. The scenery is beautiful, roads are good, people are wonderful. We've had a great weekend. The Fall festival events in Keosauqua are really fun. The parade this morning was very enjoyable. The food, vendors, crafts, antiques make for a great combination. It's been a great time.

Within minutes of us coming in, the lady had organised for us to visit the court house and the Pearson house (stop for the underground railway), which normally wouldnt have been open. We spend some great hours here and also got a cool T-Shirt and great tipps to take with us.

Beautiful little town on the Des Moines river; nice city park for children to play. The Lacy Keossuqua State Park sits opposite of the river providing great camping or cabin rentals as well.
