I have never been to an orchard. I work part-time at a store and they asked me to pick up a few cases of donuts for the store. I didn't have time to shop or look around but I thought it would be fun to bring my 13-year-old son. He went to a different orchard on a school trip when he was much younger, but I've never taken him. So today I told him I wanted to take him and he was looking forward to it. We had a wonderful time together picking apples, talking about who we'd give some to, watching the goats gobble up pumpkins and checking out the fire truck. The young gal at the register was so kind and sweet. My son picked out several honey sticks and was trying to keep the flavors separate. She offered to put them in little bags and label them for him - wow! We had a great afternoon. Highly recommend!!

Drove one hour to visit Allen's Orchard today and my family LOVED it! We were greeted at the entrance by a friendly employee who gave us a list of what was ready to pick and how to find the varieties we wanted. She also told us how to pick without pulling leaves off, which hurts the trees. There were loads of apples to pick as well as cider, donuts, and caramel apples in the shop. We loved the vibe of this orchard and will definitely be back!

Wow! What a fun experience for families in the Cedar Rapids/Marion/Hiawatha area. This past weekend was my first time to Allen’s Orchard and, though I’m normally a s***** for the larger orchards, I was blown away by this place! I love how family friendly this location is - tons of outdoor play attractions (swings, playset, monkey bars, etc.) as well as an indoor shop with something for everyone. There were so many families and happy children filling the lawns and parking lot, it was truly a joy to be there. Secondly, the orchard itself is the perfect size for families of all ages. It’s big enough for older children to explore, but small enough for younger child to also enjoy (and parents don’t have to go 4-wheeling with their strollers!) from the luxury of their carriers. Third, my family and I had the opportunity to meet the owner (I wish I would have gotten her name!). She was SO kind and gracious to us and the positive attitude that she brings to her orchard was so palpable. It was such a joy to spend our weekend (and our money) here. Consider me a life long costumer, Allen’s Orchard! Gone are the days of Wilson’s (oversized and overpriced) Orchard!

Went here with my grandma. There were a ton of apples to pick but there was some confusion at first with the self service of finding the buckets because the last time we were here they had someone giving them out and giving instructions. When we asked where they were they would just say in the front and not say much else but once we found what we needed we had a lot of fun and bought a ton of apples. The apple cider donughts are amazing there. Buy a 12 pack of them!!

It was ok. It was smaller than we thought, and they really didn't have much to choose from unless you wanted to go pick your own. They didn't have samples so you could try different apples out. They did have a apple slushy, that was good. They ran out of donuts when we were there, all they had left was donut holes, and we were there around 11. You would think they would keep those donuts coming out. I excepted more. They did have a hay ride, the bails of hay were falling apart. They need new ones up there. The people were very friendly. It was ok. But I would drive extra to go to the bigger ones in WI. next year.

A fantastic place with inexpensive apples and wonderful fields in wander in! The staff here were so kind, many apple themed items, jams, butters, and ciders were also sold inside. You can either buy apples pre-picked here, or go and pick them yourself (I recommend the ladder, makes for better photographs). I came here with a bunch of my friends while they were in town for fall break, we had a wonderful time and are savoring the apple cider we bought there slowly, only thing I'd change about my visit would be buying the full gallon instead of the half gallon!
