11-21-2024 for the last 2 years I have visited this store religiously. Here recently, I have been rather upset every time I go in. So I decided to write and let you guys know, where your going wrong. Not sure that it will even matter, but hey if it saves another community member from what I have been through… the this post has done its job. We did not grow up here. So we are in no part of small town clicks. Customer service was 5 star 2 years ago. You could always ask questions about finding products and get answers from the clerk. They were on the ball. Lately it seems as if every clerk is off in their own land.They don’t even see you walking into the store or they see you, but don’t say a word. A customer does not get greeted with a hello. They don’t even get a smile. I know 2 major big stores that at least give a customer that. They are snippy at the register. Very short with the customer. You get the feeling they are judging you for being at a Dollar General. Well , it’s not that we want to. It’s that it’s the closest to me.Od appreciate treated with dignity and respect. The same I give to you.I now avoid this store at all cost. I have heard management and another woman employee degrading a male employee for his skills. Talking about how he can do one task correctly but not another. Rolling their eyes and giggling with comments. This is not the behavior the company wants to see.I can promise you that. I’ve never even worked for DG and I know this. Especially in front of a customer. Especially when there are one to two males working there and they use names. Us customers know exactly who you are complaining about.Want to talk about other employees? Take it to the back, no customer wants to hear that. Like I said we live in a small town. Keep that in mind. I however will take my business else where.

Since new management has taken over, the staff are far more pleasant and i just had an experience that I cannot believe, but I also don't want to share. This place is the best-staffed Dollar General anywhere in the area! They're not getting paid nearly enough for all they do! Stop in for some friendly neighborhood shopping from an A+ staff!

I went to the store in hopes to get something quickly and my check hadn't posted on my account yet so I was in the car trying to fix that, I went inside and I gathered about 20 items I was in there for a while, next thing I know, I'm being approached by a police officer that said he wanted to know what I was doing in my car outside I told him I was trying to fix my account because it wasn't reflecting my paycheck and I needed that to shop in there and he said okay and was nice enough and left me alone my problem was that it was the women that worked there who were being rude and trying to be dramatic and acting like something was wrong because I was sitting in my own car in the parking lot minding my business for five whole minutes I don't think that warrants calling the police on somebody so I took all my items to the register and I told them I only wanted two things because I don't feel like it's appropriate to be harassed for sitting on my phone in the parking lot for 5 minutes that's ridiculous and I will never stop there again nor will I recommend anybody ever go there, unless you feel like being harassed by the police in the employees that work there that think they're better than the rest of us.

It's one of the best places to go in Montezuma, great sales & have a unique selection of all kinds. When you walk in your greeted with a hello & small talk, always helpful & kind! Very welcoming and clean. Great team up there! Highly recommend!

Nice store, good selection, most employees are friendly and helpful. DO NOT care for the one employee that follows you around acting like you are going to steal something. Pretty degrading feeling.

Can find in most small towns. I visit one in Marengo, Grinnell & Montezuma. All in Iowa. Love great selection of household items & food. Great low prices.
