Ok now, let me share my experience. My friends and I were on our way out to the Des Moines area when my car started acting weird on the Interstate. Check engine light came on and it was shaking really bad. I pulled off and had to call a tow truck to transport it to the nearest town. This happened on a Friday night and so my car couldn't be looked at till Monday. Due to some weird interactions with the tow company, or lack thereof, I decided to start looking for a mechanic near by because my faith in the tow company helping me was quickly dwindling.

Ryan at Gus Automotive was the absolute best. He was kind, honest, patient and communicated with me the entire time. Mind you I am an hour and a half away from where my car is because we are not local. I had my car towed to Gus Automotive and that started the process of trying to determine what was wrong. Initially they thought a tune up was all I needed but following some additional conversations they suspected something else might be wrong. Ryan did some more digging and found that I had a much larger issue that probably required a new engine. Ryan offered to try to get a new engine if I want but suggested taking it to a dealer would probably be better to see if they would cover the replacement.

So, I scheduled a tow to have it brought to my local dealer. Now at the end of all this Ryan had been diligently working on trying to figure out what was wrong and what options we had for a good week. He absolutely could have charged me a lot for this work. But he didn't. His price was unbelievably fair and I am so grateful for all the work he put in, the communication and the PICTURES!

Why pictures? Because when my car got to the dealership and they started looking at it they too wanted to do a tune up (mind you they wanted to charge double what Ryan quoted me) but because I had the pictures from Ryan they ended up starting a warranty claim for me and I ended up getting a brand new engine covered by my warranty.
