The company I work for booked a car so I could travel out of state for my job. I was informed the car would be ready at 8:00a.m.I arrive early and waited until 8:15 before I called the number posted at the desk."Joe" answered and stated he would be at the airport, where the rental desk is located, in 15 minutes or so.I informed him I had all the information for the rental car and would see him in 15 minutes.When he arrived he was very abrupt, ill mannered and rude.He informed me my reservation was wrong, the person that reserved the car didn't do it right, and continued to complain.Another 15 minutes pass when he leads me outside and starts the car. "Here you are". He didn't review any features, gas release lever, power window adjustments, nothing.By this time I needed to get on the road to make it to my destination on time.As I put the car in drive an annoying beeping sounded and wouldn't shut off. I stopped the car, placed it in park, checked the dashboard to confirm all doors were shut, etc.I exited the car and walked to the front. The hood was not latched down.So, at the time he handed the keys over to me he gave me an UNSAFE vehicle. Luckily I know a little about cars and figured out the problem before hitting the highway and the hood flying up!If traveling and you need to rent a car I would not recommend Avis. Poor customer sevice and lack of concern for your safety.

Will be the last place I'LL rent from again every car is dirty inside and out plus I got over charged !!! Not only did i not get my deposit money returned i also got an additional fee of over 660 something dollar charge for a car that has been returned...HOW ??♀️ ...YALL NEED TO DO BETTER !!!! I work too hard for my money to be played with ??♀️...update it was put back on my card

We feel so bad for the desk agent, car ckeaner, fueler, and most of all, humble, humorous, and crowd calming manager!He was completely understaffed yet calm in the face of an impatient crowd of 8 or 10 renters!Give him help when flights land - and a big raise!

I arrived in Waterloo international Airport to pickup a rental car on time upon my arrival I had received numerous emails and a text message letting me know that the rental car i reserved over a week ago was available for pickup at the airport on 9-23-23 @12pmThe customer service representative did see my reservation number and verified my name but that was all cause I was told they didn't know what car they could rent to me for a 1way trip to Texas as I reserved it for they gave me a lame excuse that the cars going 1 way has to have xxx amount of miles on it and the customer representative didn't have that knowledge claimed that the " computer system " was not operational plus that this particular rental agency did not send out any email verification of the rental reservation saying the car was available for pickup on Saturday 9-23-23@ 12pmThis is purpotrus on how this particular agency has lack of knowledge on any available rental car on property to rent im surprised that this agency is actually still in operations cause piss poor knowledge on anything periodAvis in general needs to get this particular agency straightened out to make it more bearable to deal with exspectly the individual who suppose to represent avis as a well known rental company.. I swear I asked for a resolution to the situation all I get is my hands are tied I even asked if I was gonna get a rental I was yeah not sure when really that all you can say after I have a 2 week reservation on a vehicle what kind of place is this to begin with honestly it a joke a slap in the face to be honest about it all it now going on 1 hour 15 minutes since I have checked in and still no answers to 1 question all I get im waiting on my boss but he's at a different location that perposturus time is short and this place is a joke on all aspects of it no matter how you look at it period something needs to be done asap I have asked him to call his boss and he countless times has refused to do so im exstremely irritated bout this entire situation completely!!!!!!!Took over 1 hours 45 minutes b4 I get the rental car and it not the one I originally asked for oh well I got 1 I guess that the most important part. Then attempt to apologize by saying " sorry " I look at the so call representative no your not sorry cause you could care less if I actually got the car or not so dont go there. Anyway it be last time I rent from the Waterloo avis office that for sure

The SUV I reserved wasn't available, so they gave us a big truck to use. Afraid to drive it, but once I got a handle of it, I was ok.

I booked over the phone with Avis (took 45mins) and asked for them to make sure they had a rental since the reviews I read said to beware. Well, I ubered out to the airport and as I was arriving they called and said they didn't have any rentals. WTH Avis! So now I paid $20 for my Uber ride for nothing. Really appreciate you all being so organized..

The worst service ever! I waited in line for 2 hours and left without getting my rental car because I just couldn’t wait any longer. There was one person working the counter and cleaning up the cars. None of the cars had been prepped for the day. The boss was on the phone several times but didn’t show up in person to help or get someone else to come in and help.

Beware! We reserved a car, went to pick it up and were told they didn’t have a car for us. Said, “Sorry, our hands are tied.”. Worst part….we drove 45 minutes to get the car and they didn’t even let us know beforehand. Never had this kind of experience before when renting a car.

Left my family stranded after a car broke down because Avis couldn’t make an exception to allow a credit card over phone or debit card in person at an airport location. Sad. I will never use them. Any company whose policies don’t see people, has gotten too big and obviously doesn’t need my business.

I don’t consider this a real car rental service. Avoid.Booked a rental online night before anticipated pickup. Received an email confirmation at the time of booking and a text confirmation the morning of pickup. Received a call/voicemail while I was in the air on the way to the airport telling us they don’t have a car for us. The man working the counter (who was pleasant and seemed to feel bad) told me that the only way to guarantee a car was to book “one maybe two” weeks in advance.Unrelated to my experience, the man behind us in line had to “air his vehicle out for a bit” because of a strong marijuana smell. The man working behind the counter said “Violá!” when he presented the customer with a bottle of Febreze to fix the problem himself.See attached photo of customer applying Febreze to his rental car.

I had awesome service from the AVIS staff. My trip was to Niagara Falls and the flight into Waterloo was delayed by 9 hrs. My family and I arrived at 11:45 PM. I let Avis staff know earlier and the rep: Gord who was super helpful arranged it that I would still get the car after working hours. I was totally expecting to be stranded one night somewhere near the airport and get the car in next morning so I was pretty darn happy. The Camry I rented was clean and there were no problems. We were able to get to Niagara Falls before 2AM. Dropping off was a breeze and I found the staff to be honest and accommodating.

They forgot to check my return in and i was charged for keeping the rental past the return date.. thankfully i was given a refund. Also guy working seemed confused and not sure what he was doing

Despicable business practices! Had a prepaid rental with them. Less than 24hrs before the time I was to pick up the vehicle they call and tell me my vehicle isn’t available, they bounced me from one representative to the next getting no where! If the roles were reversed, per their policy I would not be refunded anything. Now their excuse is “it’s just the market right now!”!! Complete garbage company! Be warned. This is a terrible company!

My sister-in-law rented a Pris or something similar from here for our trip to Texas this weekend into next week. Well come to find out that you apparently need a credit card or an airplane ticket? Like what? Not to mention that they didn't even tell my sister-in-law any of this information when she made the purchase for the rental car. Nothing but a scam and fraud. Never recommending this to anyone. Place lacks customer communication.
