This hotel is beautifully located, but I do not know anything about the rooms. I came here only to eat.The restaurant has the distinction of being pretty much the only thing open in Cottonwood Falls at night. So it was an obvious choice. ?The service was OK, but quite brusk, and particularly attentive to details like keeping a water glass full.I had the chicken fried steak Saturday night special. The steak itself was good, but the gravy was very plain, and the mashed potatoes were undistinguished. So what do you say about this place… Could certainly be worse, but could also be a lot better

We ate at the steakhouse and it was delicious. Beautiful building and lovely downtown with many small, local shops.Nearby activities: Highly recommend Cottonwood Falls as a getaway vacation. Quiet, beautiful and peaceful.

We stayed one night, room was great but beds were a bit hard. Very clean! As far as the dining - maybe we erred by going early in the week. Salad was good but no bread, crackers or breadsticks. My husband had a steak with mashed potatoes as a side. He received only those 2 things, no butter no parsley sprig, again no bread .. just a steak and a mound of marginal potatoes that were most likely leftovers from the weekend & reheated. My side of rice pilaf was the same, just a reheated mound of goo. Shrimp was ok, again no bread or anything to brighten up the dish like a little parsley or something. Presentation matters to some people.Waitress was good but seemed in a hurry and distracted, very blunt. They weren’t busy, just 2 tables with diners. The margaritas are really good. When I asked her about breakfast for the next morning she said they serve from 8-10 and that I should go to the next town over to get a donut there.. what?! Just tells a customer to go somewhere else to eat, I don’t get it.We’ll probably be back but on a weekend.

Visiting The Tall Grass Prairie. We stayed 2 nights. I wanted to be close to the Prairie so we could visit more than once. This Hotel was perfect. I love restored old buildings. This one was beautifully done. The owner and staff were wonderful.

Very cute hotel, with a friendly service, in a lovely little town just nearby the Tallgrass Prairie. Had a great stay!!

We were rather disappointed after all the hype we had read. The Ceasar salad was just a hunk of regular lettuce, not romaine as it should have been. Their menu even said it has romaine lettuce. The french onion soup is just beef broth with bouillon added to it. No real onions at all, just dried minced onions out of a seasoning jar. It was extremely salty. The cracked pepper and brandy sauce was extremely salty as well. There was no cracked pepper, only a hint of regular pepper. Couldn't finish either one. The dinner rolls were microwaved slider buns with old, runny margarine. The water boy walked by 3 times as our glasses set empty. You can tell he has no desire to be at his job. However, the steaks, I must say, were perfect.

Who wouldn't want to visit downtown Cottonwood Falls Kansas and eat at the Grand Central Hotel! Reservations are welcome. Love the lunch menu, but visit in the evening for a great Kansas steak.

Started off with the French Onion Soup and Steak Stew. Both were very good, but the Steak Stew was a little better. The broth was thick and hearty, and the vegetables had a nice crunch. The main course, the Ribeye Steak, was one of the best I have had in a while. It was very flavorful with just a hint of char from the grill. Served with the fresh mashed potatoes and gravy, it was wonderful. I would love to go back again, the next time we are in the area.Noteworthy details: We arrived shortly after 5pm and the place seemed to fill up quickly.

Beautiful historic building! The room was amazing. Beds very firm. Be careful with dinner time. They only serve until 7:30pm.

Went for lunch. The chicken (or pork) fried steak was described as "the best in Kansas". The one from Sonic is better. The rice and beans were flavorless. Very disappointing. However the Arts co-op across the street was worth the stop on our trip through the Flint Hills.

Very nice hotel. Small and quaint. Restaurant is popular. I had the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. This was the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had! I would make a special trip just for this entree. Reservations are helpful. Sorry about the pictures but it was thick and no grissle and I was hungry.

Place was perfect. We stayed in the clover cliff ranch room and just loved the atmosphere. Steak dinner was great along with the service. You must check out the shops in town also.
