Terrible customer service coupled with employees who can’t ring the right price up on items that are clearly listed. Unclean store that has a weird musty, stale smell to it. A manager who has been there 20+ years but is only manager due to sheer time and seniority or just simply a lack of qualified personnel or applicants. This franchise is in big city’s and small towns alike. I got served a no trespass here because I told the cashier to do her job and ring things up right, that a moron could get it right after that many attempts. This was my 3rd or 4th time there with the same exact issue and same exact employee. I told her before that it was an issue. She got upset when I said what I said, which I’m not saying was right either, I have apologized for my role in this. I then call corporate to get the issue resolved and apologize for my comments and was met with a hostile and smart mouthed area/regional manager. Whom I spoke to with nothing but respect and was told that it’s “not her job to get the prices correct, and that if it were him he would’ve picked another drink if it was a problem.” Told me that what I said to her he considered a threat, which is complete nonsense. I never once threatened anyone or even made threatening gestures. She asked me to leave and I asked to speak to the manager and she wouldn’t let me so I left. Around 7 or 8 pm that evening I hear a knock at my front door, it’s the cops. There to serve me with a no trespass order to where I am banned from one of the only two convenient stores we have in town. To make matters even worse, I was a city employee and the city attorney caught wind of this all and used it against me in order to terminate my position. In layman’s terms that means fired. I had just bought a home in Downs and moved there to start a career with the city of Downs and lost my job in the end. I can only imagine the type of vile and disrespectful customers who visit the Alta’s in Denver or a big city. What happened this day was a very soft employee was having a bad day and she can’t perform the simple tasks that are required of her to do her job correctly and I said something about it being persistent and costing me more and more of my money and she got defensive and verbally aggressive towards me so I reacted accordingly. Not with threats or aggression, but with inquires as to why she can’t do her job right and if I could speak with the manager. Nothing that I did that day should be grounds for being trespassed let alone having the cops knocking at your door in the evening time unannounced. Not to mention, I’ve known the manager for over 30 years! She knows I’m not a violent or mean guy. I don’t know if it’s a personal vendetta or what but I lost my job over it and it threw my entire life into chaos. All over a cashier refusing to get the pricing right when ringing up my drinks. I went in as a paying customer just to buy an energy drink like I do and left with a no trespass order and subsequently without a job. It was all on video as well, I told the corporate guy that so that he could listen to what was said or done and could make his own judgment. He refused to and just took her word over mine. I’m not even sure that employee still works there for that matter! I will never stop at another Alta or Alta affiliate in my life and neither will my family. They all know me and heard the situation and are as flabbergasted as I. I wanted to resolve this issue so badly, and in a positive way and was met with nothing but backlash and argumentative behavior. I’m not saying that I was right for getting upset with her for not doing her job but I am saying that Alta took it way, way, way too far and it affected my entire life. Not just a few energy drinks but my entire life it changed negatively. Frankly, it’s a shame. Alta’s entire purpose is to be a convenient store that is staffed with competent and friendly employees, there are neither of those at this Alta other than maybe one employee. Alta should be ashamed of themselves that they let a corporate level manager speak to anyone that way.
