“I was passing through Fort Scott, Kansas and my 2013 Toyota Highlander was making a strange noise. I determined the rubbing noise was coming from my rear driver's side wheel area. The rubbing noise would speed up when the vehicle accelerated and slow down when the vehicle decelerated. I had a 2.5 hour drive ahead of me, and I was uneasy about continuing on with my journey with this unidentified noise. I noticed a Toyota dealership which happened to be Briggs Toyota of Fort Scott in the distance. I decided to pull in the parking lot and go inside and ask for assistance. I was directed to the service advisor, Eric Weers, and he took my information and explained their best mechanic, Randy, who has serviced Toyotas for over 30 years was headed to lunch, but assured me he would take a look at me vehicle as soon as he returned. After a short wait, Eric returned to explain to me that Randy found three loose lugnuts on my wheel! Eric and Randy truly saved my life that day and I am so grateful!
The entire staff at Briggs Toyota of Fort Scott were courteous and professional. They were genuinely concerned about my situation and took care of my issue right away. I was so happy that Eric made my issue a top priority for his service team. Randy took the wheel off the vehicle and immediately discovered three loose lugnuts. They were literally ready to fall off. He not only inspected the wheel in question, but discovered all the lugnuts were loose on all four tires. I recently had my tires rotated at another mechanic shop in my hometown and they did not tighten the lugnuts to spec. They were only tightneded to 80lbs instead of 100lbs. Randy made sure the wheel studs were in good shape and tightened all the lugnuts on the vehicle and I was only charged $76. It was well worth avoiding an accident and possible injury or death due to a failure of the lugnuts while traveling at highway speeds. I am thankful to Eric and Randy for their time and attention. They deserve the highest praise.”
