Welborn Elementary needs a new line of office staff. The nurses don't know what they're doing. I wouldn't trust them to give my child a bandage. Receptionists are lazy and don't never know anything. Kckps does not respect its working class parents between the irrational truancy policy and the audacity to call folks from work 45min before school is over talking about pick your child and keep them home the next day.

The amount of misinformation and miscommunication I experienced with this office is unparalleled. I spoke to someone about enrolling my son in prek. They messed up my appt, not ONCE but TWICE and were sitting there trying to blame me for their mistake. I finally show up for our 3rd appt after a month and they tell me straight away I won’t qualify for prekindergarten. Apparently this whole process is done by financial situation for headstart (which means you earn less than 20k a year for a family of 3), which was never explained to me at any point until I cleared my schedule to make this appointment AND SHOWED UP. They could have saved me significant time and gathering of documents by telling me this over the phone (you can look up headstart financial requirements online…). The girl tried to tell me she couldn’t tell me it’s based on income until I came in for a meeting? The girl I worked with lied, made mistakes, and is generally horrible at her job. She should thank her lucky stars someone thinks she’s employable lol. Not to mention my gps with this address took me to a way different area and the employee had zero ability to tell me how to get there from another building. Zero instructions on finding the place either.This is why this school district gets 1 star on all the ratings. I feel sorry for the kids who go to school here, what a disorganized mess.

As for me I have the utmost respect for the Kansas city Kansas school districts as well as the other School districts all over America, it's just pretty sad that our Educational system is in turmoil and shouldn't be, because our schools use to be a place where anyone could go to seek refuge and someone in that school would reach out and could help give you some kind of helpful advice or even direct you to whatever social services you may need according to your situation. Now the schools are in Turmoil everywhere to no fault of its own. Please know how much I as a parent, grand parent and a Greatgrand parent appreciate everyone of the Kansas city Kansas Public school district employees everyone of you guys.

communication with parents us horrendous. I get there's a teacher shortage but they should at least get math teachers in the rooms instead of teachers who ignore and don't help kids through zoom that are struggling. don't even get me started on the fact that my kids school has taken away bathroom passes. the teachers don't care and are rude to anyone who isn't their "favorite student" and they don't care to listen to concerned parents. and once I heard that they have "silent lunches" that was the last straw, if we could move out of this school district tomorrow we would. 10 out of 10 do not recommend.

My granddaughter Arrayah had a wonderful time trick or treating with the Parents as Teachers at the KCK District Office today. Thank you all so much for a wonderful experience for her and all the other little ones that participated.
