Their bathroom doesn't work. I tried to talk to the employees about but they just looked at me !like they don't know what I'm talking about. I guess it's illegal to use the bathroom when it's an emergency huh?

I was coming back from picking up Mexican pastries in downtown KCK on a Sunday morning when I noticed a sign on the front of this decrepit C-store. It not only caught my attention but it made me circle the block and go back. The sign said "Broaster Chicken" and I was immediately taken back to my childhood when our neighbors owned Mary's Broasted Chicken next to William Jewell college in Liberty. My mom often worked shifts to assist and would bring home the best smelling and tasting chicken I've ever had. Broasting is the art of deep frying in a pressure cooker; it locks in the flavor, juices and creates a perfect crust. Because of the cost and safety of hot oil pressure cookers, broasted chicken is a rare find.I walked in the seedy joint not even sure they would have any prepared at 11am Sunday, but they did. I ordered 3 legs since that was all they had, and made my way back to my vehicle while being hit up for money outside only once. I locked my doors, took a picture and dove into what I knew would be my new favorite chicken joint in town, after all isn't this town known for renovated or functioning gas stations serving up stellar food and drinks? Sadly Q-save is not going to be on that list. The chicken coating was not memorable and the chicken meat was very stringy and not one bit succulent - it was just typical convenience store food; I'm not even sure it was actually "broasted". I will not be returning to find out either. Sad.

This location offered Conoco gas at a competitive price, cheerful service, a hot foods case, and a clean convenience sales area with ice, air and a vacuum available for a charge outside. Overall, A-OK.
