I regret leaving my bank. I've paid so much in fees, it's laughable. At my previous bank they would just decline charges and I would get a notification so I could move funds to the appropriate account. Here they will let charges through and charge you an overdraft fee. If you enroll in the overdraft protection it comes from your savings account. However, if you don't have money in your savings account and a request is made your savings account is then hit with a fee. The staff are incompetent both in person and at the call center. You can tell them the issue and all the things you've tried to correct the issue only for them to suggest solutions you've just told them you've already tried and were unsuccessful. If you point out that you've already tried that and was unsuccessful and that you would like a different solution you're told you'll be put in touch with a manager. After holding an automated message tells you there's not anyone to take your call and hangs up. It does not leave you the option to leave a message for call back, it just hangs up on you. Not only is that unhelpful it's also enraging when you're already having a customer service issue. Dealing with main Street credit Union is painful to their point of agony.

Excellent service, by people who actually know and care who you are. I can't recommend Main Street more highly, in all my interactions with them. The only "bank" (though of course they're a credit-union: and that's a HUGE difference for the good) I've ever LOVED.

Super nice employees. This location is never busy. However they generally only have one person on staff here so if there is someone in front of you it could take a while depending on what they're doing.I feel like both Main Street credit Union locations in Lawrence are very inconvenient to get to. The one on 23rd and Haskell has been in that construction zone for like a year now and it's pretty far out there to start with. This location is tucked into the back of a grocery store, which probably isn't helping the employees open new accounts. Really wish they could've purchased the old bank by Hyvee, but I think the time for that has passed.4.5/5

I have had this account for 7 years and don't plan on changing. Much better than any big bank I've ever dealt with. I'm very impressed with how quickly they contacted me (within minutes!) when I was traveling and made a purchase outside my state. I forgot to contact them ahead of time to let them know. Highly recommended!
