This is a really good yarn store. They have locally produced, Indy-Dyer yarns as well as a house brand called 319 (their street address). Th'Red Head Designs Mini Boomer is a serious deal. 1140 yards of fingering for under $60. And the store has the national/international brands you would expect to find in a well-stocked store such as Malabrigo and Cascade. As a knitter living in Texas I also looked at their cones of cotton, a yarn intended for the weaving buyer. But I wasn't in a cotton-buying kind of mood. CAVEAT: Parking is an issue. The street parking in front of the store is heavily patrolled by City Meter Readers. The meter took coins from me but didn't give me time on the meter for the money. It suggested that I turn a handle that didn't exist. Then I tried to make the City parking app work. Apparently I'm just not that App-Literate. I stood by my car while the store wound up my purchases. I ducked back into the store to grab my new yarns. That was all the time it took for a parking ticket to get jammed under the windshield wiper. The ticket was only $10 so it wasn't a Big-City Style parking ticket, but still.....

The diversity of the yarn supply is wonderful. I was able to find mid-level priced yarn as well as yarn from independent dyes. The shop carries a large selection of notions as well as the looms and spinning wheels. Kansas is lucky to have a shop like this.

The shop assistants are very friendly everytime I go in and helpful and the selection is great because 100% wool yarn is hard to find but I was able to find some great wool yarn here! They also have very soft alpaca as well. The only downside is metered parking.. so I have to hunt for parking elsewhere.

The staff here are so nice and helpful. One showed me her personal crocheting pattern book & helped me pick out a pattern for yarn I just bought.

Came in to buy my 12-year-old who'd been spindle spinning for about 2 years a spinning wheel.Asked for help immediately upon coming in, were told to wait for 'just a minute,' even though the the two women working there weren't doing anything, just talking amongst themselves.20mins later we still haven't been helped and at this point we've asked for help again and been told, 'just a minute' again. At this point my daughter just starts looking (NOT touching) at the wheels herself, and is immediately told by staff who had previously been ignoring us to get out of the spinning wheel area because my daughter could 'break something'.Staff knew why we were in the store, ignored us, and then chastised us for trying to look on our own (the spinning wheels aren't behind a counter or anything and there were multiple adult women with small children in the section, all of which were playing with the spinning wheels). My daughter has been doing fibre arts since she was 6 and in the 3 years we've lived in Lawrence, we've probably spent upwards of $5000 in this shop.We are a Rroma family and my daughter was also refused admittance to their youth knitting group when she was 10 after first being told she had to be able to cast-on and cast-off and would be confused, upon hearing that she could do both of those things and was actually learnign cables and shortrows, was told she was 'too advanced' and still couldn't join. I suspect (especially reading other reviews here) that the treatment we received may have had something to do with the fact that the other women and unsupervised children in the store that day were white.

Fiber lover's paradise. It's a medium sized shop neatly packed with everything you could imagine, from many varieties of virgin roving, spinning wheels, weaving machines, knitting, crochet, and other tools and accessories, plus a great variety of quality affordable yarns for any project. Do not miss out on this place!

I attended the beginning knitting class. Our instructor, Cheryl, was excellent! So patient and attentive. Very skilled at teaching and hands on instruction. Lots of information about everything knitting. I had to leave before it was over but will absolutely take this class again but only if Cheryl is teaching!
