Overpriced. Ordered a scone for 6 dollars and it was hard enough to knock on a door with. The scone was not sweet and did not crumble. Would not recommend, only tried that one scone but definitely won’t be coming back for more.

I was looking for a last minute lemon cake to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This bakery has full cakes available for purchase so I drove right over and picked one up, same day. It was absolutely delicious and honestly tasted even better on the second day! Soft and fluffy with plenty of lemon flavor. Would definitely recommend and will be returning for future cakes.

$9.50 per slice of lemon cake!!! Cake was crumbly and tasted like eggs. Only redeeming quality was the frosting.

I was quite excited to try this place as I am a huge fanatic of all lemon goods, baked or otherwise. However, I was sad to come away as unsatisfied with this experience. 😔
When I stopped in, I saw a lemon cake that was under a glass cake cover. I went pretty early in the morning and was excited to try a taste of what I assumed was fresh lemon cake. Boy was I wrong! 🚨
Not only was the slice of cake I got 9 dollars, but it was relatively small. And the worst part was it had clearly been made the day before. Maybe I’m not up to date with fresh cake timelines and expectations for local bakeries but I was disappointed with the quantity and quality of my lemon slice and I can only review what the bakery has given me upon purchase.
Not trying to sound snobby but I wasn’t too impressed with the workers behind the counter either. My experience was that I could have been a ghost in the room and gotten more attention. They didn’t seem to care if I was there or not.
Ultimately, I’m left feeling sad and disappointed by lemon cake bakery. I feel like they need a major change up in both quality snd service to bring me back. Shame, because I’m a sucker for lemon treats. Couple that with the fact that they don’t pay their engineering consultants and you’ve got a pretty reprehensible establishment.

I had a London smog (Earl grey tea latte with a shot of espresso) and their lemon cake. Generous portion with the cake!
Not a lot of seating but lots of cute cookbook and tea and cookware you can purchase.

Cute spot if you're in the Mission Farm area.
Muffin was very dense but tasty. Oatmeal cookie was extremely dry.
Cakes are very good.

The lemon cake has always been an uncontested favorite, but I’ve made my way through some other menu items over the months and they’re all incredible. The coconut cake is tied for favorite!
If you need a cake or cupcakes to impress, The Lemon Cake bakery is a wonderful option!

Was in the area and thought I would try out this bakery while looking for a sweet treat after lunch. Although the gentleman was friendly and was able to answer my questions on certain ingredients used/not used I was left a little underwhelmed. I choose to try 1 of the 2 available cookies (sugar cookie) and the red velvet cupcake. The cookie I was expecting soft but received a quite crisp and hard cookie. The cupcake while moist (I can be particular about ingredients used i.e. water/milk or oil) the cream cheese frosting was well lemony. I like lemon but this was not a kiss of lemon but smothered overtaking.

Lemon Cake Bakery is hands down the best bakery in Leawood! Their cakes aren’t the over-the-top, flashy kind you see at most parties—they’re simple and classic on the outside, but all the real magic is baked right in. The flavor, texture, and quality are next level. You can really tell they put so much care into every detail.
What I love most is that it’s not about how the cake looks, it’s about how it tastes—and wow, does it taste amazing! Every bite is packed with flavor, and the texture is just perfect. It’s the kind of cake that feels special without trying too hard.
And it’s not just the cakes—they have a great selection of pastries and teas that are perfect to grab on the go. Whether you want a treat for yourself or something for a special occasion, you really can’t go wrong here.
If you’re looking for a bakery that focuses on quality over gimmicks, this is it. Highly recommend!

If you need a festive cake, DO NOT order from this bakery. My mother placed an order for two cakes to celebrate my grandfather's 90th birthday, an event she had meticulously planned and wanted to have a special cake for. The salesman insisted they could created what she wanted but he was so wrong. These two ugly cakes are what they provided. The cakes are so lightly frosted it looks like a crumb coat, the tops are mounded, and the lettering is embarrassing. These do not look like high end, professional cakes. While the chocolate flavor was fine, did not make up for the ugly outside appearance and I'm irate that in the last hours before the event she was left scrambling to make the cakes presentable. Even worse, when she emailed the bakery afterwards to complain, they did not respond at all. It seems that these cakes were hastily prepared with no care.

Such a wonderful bakery. Some gluten free, dairy free options. I got an oat milk latte. Perfect temp. My friend got some GF/DF chocolate bars for her son. Charming decorations, lots of tea, mugs, containers.
