About Compass Minerals Lyons Plant
Compass Minerals Lyons Plant, located in central Kansas, has been operational since 1911. The plant unexpectedly discovered salt while searching for oil and gas in the late 1880s. It produces over 40% of its salt for water conditioning products across North America, in addition to bulk food-grade salt and agricultural salt. Reviews highlight a busy atmosphere at the plant, with some drivers experiencing long wait times for loading. While the parking lot is described as muddy and dusty, it is spacious enough to accommodate multiple trailers. Customers note that staff can be helpful, with some expressing frustration at the occasional rudeness from personnel. However, many drivers appreciate the quick service, reporting that they were in and out in a matter of hours. The loading docks, while somewhat cramped, are manageable, and an air-conditioned lounge is available for drivers waiting in their trucks. Overall, the experiences shared reflect a mix of efficiency and challenges, with many appreciating the friendly assistance provided by the staff.

These guys are hilarious, from the rude lady lacking any personality at the window to the fellow that forgot to put a seal on, which caused Conagra to reject the load. These guys are quite the outfit, although I shouldn’t complain, as it turned a 550 mile haul into an 1100 miler.
