What a neat little niche zoo! Staff was pleasant, the grounds are gorgeous, and the zoo itself is really interesting. I especially enjoyed the mock kitchen, in which you open drawers, cabinets, etc to find insects that are common in our homes! Such a cool idea. Arachnids and insects are a big interest of mine, but I think that anyone could enjoy the experience here.

This was a great experience! It’s a beautiful building which has history in its self. We spent about an hour and 30 minutes here, saw a lot of insects. The girl working in here was very friendly and informed. The cutter ant exhibit was cool to watch this is interesting for kids and adults. The gardens outside are beautiful and everything is labeled.

If you're into insects or want to take a closer look at insects, this is the place! Walk around the outside garden area to observe native insects. Enter the well maintained barn to see various insects in their habitat. Great to play, 'I Spy with my Little Eye' to find insects. You can also purchase some insects to take home as a pet! Leaf Cutter ants and the bees are a must watch!

$3 for a great experience and cool display of lots of spiders, ants, beetles, roaches, and more! I don't like bugs but couldn't help but look at everything! Totally worth the visit! Afterwords we checked out all the gardens surrounding the area and it's Beautiful!

Great place to take the little explorers. We found this through the Geocaching app and it was an awesome experience. Doesn't take long to navigate but really got the kids eyes opened to how dangerous mother nature can be. Highly recommend you visit this place in this awesome little city!

This is such a cool place! It's not a large building, but they've fit some very interesting specimens throughout. There's a neat interactive household pest exhibit, a table for kids to learn the lifestyles of several types of insects, and a microscope that projects on a larger screen. The leafcutter ant and honeybee setups are super cool. The woman at the counter was also very friendly. For $2.99 per person, you can't beat the price.

Visited on a chilly weekend in April. It’s a small exhibit of insects plus a little garden. Cute little landmark to spend an hour or so.

The best insect zoo we have ever been to, we loved learning about all the different bugs and had so much fun doing it! My girls (ages 24 and 20) have always loved bugs (as have I), but this was our first time in an actual stand-alone insect zoo, and it was AWESOME!! Regular zoo insect houses are okay, but pale in comparison to the K-State insect zoo. We appreciate that the zoo was open over the Christmas holidays so that those of us who take post-Christmas trips (from Dallas) could visit. Bonus: we had the place to ourselves so we had good conversations with the staff entomologist, who explained how they care for and manage their insects. Cool behind the scenes info! Favorite exhibits in no particular order:Leaf-cutter Ants (just given fresh leaves)TarantulasScorpionsMantidsBees!Various exoskeletonsOther spiders (black widow and wolf spider)Assassin BugsWalking sticks - some species were 6 in. long!! The roaches in the kitchen exhibit is not for the faint of heart. Avoid the sink if you are squeamish. The albino roach on the counter exhibit was cool, though. Stop by and grab some insect snacks on the way out. Bugs are a great source of high-quality protein and ranching them is very climate friendly. 5 come get your bug fix stars!!
