I highly recommend the restaurant as well, it’s run by 2 chefs from Wichita.

10/10 recommend this beautiful hotel! I was so impressed, we really felt immersed in the time period. We just so happened to come at a time when the town was having a market in the park with several local venders. We went to the 1886 Parlour in the hotel and it was amazing!! The food was great and the service was exceptional! Wonderful experience overall! Definitely will be back.

The staff is as beautiful as the hotel. My wife and I just made our third stay at the Elgin to celebrate her 75th birthday. Three years ago we celebrated our 50th anniversary at the Elgin. We love the hotel and if you’re looking for a place to step back in time with elegance you can’t go wrong staying here. The restaurant has excellent food and the coffee shop across the street is a great place to start the day. Been there, done that, and will definitely do it again!!!
Nearby activities: The antique barn at the north end of town on Walnut is a fun place to visit.

What a wonderful place! We just loved it! So comfortable. Now have fantastic breakfasts. Even orange juice was outstanding. The only downside is that it is in Marion KS. But if you want a getaway, this is the place! Staff, perfect! Rooms, perfect! Will definitely go back.
Hope the community supports it, and it will be able to serve the area.

Booked a night in the chingawasa springs suite and it was absolutely amazing! The room itself and the entire hotel are gorgeous. The complimentary coffee was a great way to start the day and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed getting to walk around and see all the beautiful suites available and the second floor deck area was so nice to sit out and enjoy the area. Will absolutely come again the next time I need a night away

Obviously this place is worth staying at from a historic angle. I loved it for that. My room had great books in it and both the furnishings and the trimmings (tile, door frames, bathtub etc...) were gorgeous and reminiscent of the respective history of the place. While I didn't mingle in any of them, the public spaces looked inviting for someone who wanted to hang out outside of their room. I loved the guestbook and the little journal in the room (more people should make entries!).
The thing I found questionable was the bath towels being in a basket on the ground rolled and stored touching and against the non-slip bath mat. I would doubt if the basket moves often and I was grossed out thinking of my towel touching a mat where someone's foot had been. Additionally, there were two glass glasses in the room. I didn't want to use them for just my Emergen-C but when I located the plastic cups I was looking for they were stored in the open (yes, they had the plastic wrapping but the plastic has holes) on top of the toilet tank. I went ahead and used the glass.
Overall staying here is great but some minor storage solution tweaks are recommended.

In the middle of now where we struck gold.
The Elgin doesn't look like much from the outside. The stone building has transformed many times over the years and the full story is amazing.
Every hotel could learn a few things from Tammy & Jennifer. These two ladies embraced my artist craziness and let me take an obscene amount of pictures. Many in costume creations from our minds. They showed genuine interest in our adventures and I loved hearing their stories.
We stayed in #309 Amelia Earharts glorious room. The giant tub for two paired with a beautifully decorated gas fireplace was where we spent loads of hours during our three day stay.
Real rugs for the tub! WHA? ?
Breakfast was delicious, French Toast for this girl. ?
Full kitchens to use, all necessary utensils, laundry, game room, seating areas for days and feels like an all- inclusive resort.
The amenities are as long as my last Walgreens receipt. ?
I hope to gather many like minded artists and head to Elgin Hotel for a killer shootout ?
OH and
Did you forget something? No worries they have it and so much more.
Safety: I walked around at night shooting, sometimes alone. No issues.
Walkability: We walked everywhere.
Food and drinks: BBQ is just down the end of the street. Incredible mac n cheese.

It is comfortable and cozy at the same time.
We truly look forward to our time there.

What a beautiful hotel! The building itself is a work of art, even in the smallest details. The staff was so welcoming and friendly, taking special care to call me by name and make sure I had everything I needed. The food was delicious and well-presented in the elegant dining room. Each floor had a full kitchen for guests to use, with provided supplies of every kind.
Everything in my room was the finest quality, from the softest sheets to the floofy bath mat and towels, even the provided body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and lotion was luxury. Every night I took a long hot soak in the massive bathtub to help me relax before bed. Most of all, it was beautifully quiet and peaceful. Most mornings I had coffee and listened to nothing but the birds singing in the tree outside my window.
This hotel is a destination of its own. If you want to be relaxed, pampered and made to feel special, stay at the Elgin. You won't forget it.

I was hoping to make a reservation. They will not answer the phone at 12:53 pm on a Wednesday, on their listed line. I am totally nonplussed.
Update:
Tammy did call back and did her best to suit me and my questions.

What an absolutely perfect experience. Jennifer went out of her way to work with me to plan a surprise birthday. Every detail was thought of. The hotel is gorgeous. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend especially for a special occasion. Thank you Elgin!
