excellent meals are prepared and served lunch(salad bar only at lunch too) and dinner by loving staff and volunteers Monday thru Friday. it's the best food anyone will experience at a mission hands down. a food pantry and clothing room is on site with great options for singles and families. the outreach to the homeless is top notch, far better than new hope-who asks illegal questions and has red tape. overnight shelter is run with a heart for serving and transitioning to better options. NJM has opened and run the only non co-ed women's sober living homes in newton(at the time of this review). they run a tight and good ship by helping women(with kids too) who have few options. it is a true transformational residence for women wanting a change in a town with few other choices. All the aforementioned is the fulfillment of Matthew 25:34-46. the latter needs work. men's sober living is a great option for those who are on parole, out of treatment or jail who need safe secure housing. most who can't get housing elsewhere in town live there. if you are looking for communal spirit it would be best to look elsewhere. There is a definite work-the-system mentality. the proximity of corrections, courthouse, and downtown are positive yet seems to allow abuse. it is not a welcoming situation when personal items disappear and vehicle sabotage takes place. staff may burn residents to the other guys and mock them later. condoms are being provided to men who are on a registry or have charges from sexual assaults. it is immoral and unethical. the men's sober living environment is the only facet of the jewel of NJM that has little shine, tarnishing the rest. if this final component were to get cleaned up NJM would be the best all-around option in Harvey county to help those in need.

Delivered furniture there today. I had the pleasure of meeting someone who is dedicated to their mission, and also was offered a hot lunch. Great atmosphere.

Very, very positive and nice people. They care and want to help. I haven't stayed there, yet they offered me a spot. They provided advice on how to get a shower (as a homeless man), how to get food to take with you, when to come for meals at the shelter and how to get a blanket. I know God is pleased with their giving and that they are cheerful givers.
