Was in town and ended up running out of Ollie dog food and was able to go pick up more at this location. I like that they carry the Ollie food brand. Everyone that I dealt with that work there was great helpful very friendly.

I went in today honestly it looked like it was closed with how dark and empty it looked on the outside, but I needed to replace the lids on my 75 gallon aquarium since my fish are jumpers during feeding time. There’s a few options but they don’t look like the size I need so I go up to the front (which is super near the fish section) to ask for help. The cashier said not one word just shook her head when I asked if she could call someone (I’ve been hearing pages over the PA system since I walked in so I know they have phones) I asked again and again no word spoken just shook her head no. Thankfully I had heard a man towards the back of the store stocking shelves who was super friendly and able to help me get the right size lid for my tank. Back up to the front I go with my lid and a toy for my cat. Was going to pick up a bag of hay for my guinea pigs as well but figured I’d drive the 20 minutes to PetSmart. So I approached the register ans finally the cashier actually speaks to me but barely and reverted back to head shaking when asked any questions. It suck’s since I actually used to pretty regular in the store and had been used to the really friendly and helpful employees.

Our dog was in need of a larger cone. We talked with an associate about our problem. We needed a deeper cone since our dog has long and tall legs! Thor has a hurt front paw which he is not supposed to lick! Unfortunately you do not have a deeper cone! Bummer and no way to order a deeper one! So we bought 1 large and 2 medium cones and made a massive cone! Which actually is working! The sales associate also said there is a 30 day money back guarantee on the cones! I told her we are gonna hold you to that!! Thor destroys cones! We have tried everything!!

The items I was looking for were in stock which is a plus. Unfortunately the cashier was too busy trying to be so super duper friendly that she failed to enunciate and slow down so she could be understood while wearing a mask. I couldn’t understand that she was trying to tell me how much the transaction cost and had to tell her I couldn’t understand a word she said. I’m also completely at a loss as to if young people even know the words “Thank you “ at all because they certainly don’t know how to say it to customers. They seem to believe that telling you “have a good day” is sufficient and then those of us who were taught better say thanks to them. If you wonder why people are purchasing online instead of in the stores, consider that your customers do not feel that their business in person is appreciated. Remember if you want to keep a brick and mortar presence you need customers coming in the door and for them to come in the door they would like to be appreciated. All it takes is a simple heart felt “Thanks for your business “. Call me old fashioned but I’ll take old fashioned as opposed to aloof and uncaring any day.

Don't trust inventory info on their website... Last 2 orders I did for in-store pickup, one or more items were suddenly unavailable. Yet they charged the full amount, and I'm still waiting to be refunded. Cashier was nice, but ultimately not very helpful. Also, they advertise "free same day delivery" on the website, but won't honor it if it's not coming from the closest store (not even an option to pay for delivery if coming from a further store). Luckily, Olathe Pet Shop down the road had the unavailable item.

We went to get our son his first pet fish, and much to our shock there were quite a few dead bettas on the shelf. Against our better judgment we went ahead and got one (obviously alive), We also went ahead and got the water drop medication to hopefully preserve this little guys life. After telling the kid at check out about the deceased fish on the shelves he told us “yea that happens. If yours dies just bring back the body and we’ll get you a new one.” Unfortunately, he died less than 72 hours later. We took him back (which, ew gross! Isn’t a picture enough proof he didn’t make it?!) and there were even more dead ones on shelf. Once again against our better judgement we let our son pick one out…. Now here we are not even 24 hours later with a fish who’s covered in a white sludge/ fungus, that looks to also be in the process of passing away. This is on top of preemptively giving both fish the Melafix. Needless to say I’m disappointed with the care of animals at this Petco’s location.
