I usually don't do reviews but after the outstanding experience I had to take the time to share my gratitude! First off is being greeted by the awesomely friendly Kerby at the front desk. Her smile and attitude makes you feel good right off the bat. Then I had the pleasure to meet Ruth my tax professional. Ruth was great very friendly and very very knowledgeable about her job. And she really knows her stuff about the federal retirement system. I had fallen behind on my taxes and had been worried about it for a long time but Ruth got everything worked out for me and I left her office feeling that huge weight off my shoulders. Then I got to top it all off with joking and laughing with Kerby again while checking out paying my bill. I recommend the Ottawa H&R Block office to anyone. And ask for Ruth.

I love coming here for only 1 reason and that is because of Kris. She is the most friendly, caring and helpful person ever. If I don't understand something she is always so kind and takes her time to explain anything. I always return if she there, makes my experince so pleasant to have an AWESOME tax accountant!

The owner of this establishment charged my fiance $59 before finishing his taxes. We realized that there was no way his refund would cover the extremely high filing fees so the tax advisor told him he had to pay $59 for not being able to cover the $271. We found out after my fiance paid this specific establishments fee that HR Block absolutely does not do this and would not do this. The owner misleads customers to believe they have to pay the fee or they can not file their taxes anywhere else.

Spent 10 minutes and $60 on a consultation-biggest waste of time and money ever. My husband changed professions this year so we had a specific question about what might be considered a tax write off for his job, we had already googled the question and came up with conflicting information so we made an appointment to speak with a tax professional to get a clear answer so we knew whether we should have HR Block do our taxes this year or if we could do them ourselves. The person we met with was extremely condescending and rude, they didn’t know the answer to the question so they googled it, at first they found the original answer that we had-that the item was tax deductible, then found something else that said it was not. She tried to explain to us why the item may not be deducted and when we responded that other information she had just found said the opposite of what she was explaining then she became extremely condescending and said the reason we didn’t understand what she was saying was because she wasn’t giving us the answer we wanted to hear. She then phoned a friend who DID NOT work for HR Block but had been in a similar profession as my husband years before and now does peoples taxes. I don’t know what her friends actual qualifications are to answer tax questions aside from the HR Block employee stating that this person “now helps people with their taxes”.the appointment was equal to us throwing $60 in the trash. How can a business charge for a consultation that takes 10 min and involves the expert googling the question being consulted on and then phoning a friend???
