“The Girard Post Office is an absolute gem. I was trying to coordinate a supply drop and much needed tool replacement for a biker coming through the TransAmerica bike trail which happens to go right through Girard. I sent two separate packages for general delivery last minute to the Girard Post Office and just had to hope for the best. When I was able to call on Monday to let them know the packages were on the way and why, and Janis the Postmaster answered the phone and was so friendly and kind and assured me she had already seen one package arrive and was ready for the biker coming through. I was impressed she had already noticed my mail and knew exactly what I was talking about. Even though I was a total stranger calling in from another state, Janis treated me like a member of her own community and gave me some tips for the best chance to coordinate a mail pickup. When the biker came through, the packages handoff was successful and Janis even offered him a refreshing Gatorade on his trek. Janis is a stellar person, and if she was so caring and helpful for out-of-towners, I can only imagine how well she takes care of the citizens of Girard.
