They've raised all their prices and reduced the quality of all their items.
Over priced poorly made products

Called in this morning to ensure I specific model kit was available before purchasing online. I had requested the individual to check if the item was physically available in the store as it was a 35 minute drive for me. The individual stated it was so I placed the online order. When I arrived to pick the item up a ordered the wrong one was in the bag. It turns out they don't even carry the item the person has supposedly checked on for me. Wasted an hour of my time because someone couldn't take two minutes to walk down the aisle to check on an item (and lied about doing it).

The store was rearranged, and there's not much variety anymore. There was a little of everything, but not much choice. Fabric was hit the hardest, and there were less than two half aisles worth.
I was looking for a crafting kit, but they were poor quality and looked tacky. This used to be my go to for a nice craft, but the product quality has gone down hill.
It also felt like a majority of the store was just frames, flowers, baskets, and storage. Not really a craft store, so much as a cheap decoration shop.

It's been a while since I was at the Michael's on Shawnee Mission Parkway, but I was pleasantly surprised on this visit.
While gathering supplies for a project, I had been to two other craft/hobby stores in the area with little luck. Michaels had the biggest selection by far of acrylic hobby paints, and I was able to get the color varieties I needed.
I was approached twice to ask if I was finding everything. The second time, I did need help finding a couple of paint brushes. The associate walked me to the section and helped me look for the specific brushes. When we couldn't find one of the items I was after, she searched her handheld for inventory and found that another location carried the brush. She asked if there was anything else I needed, then helped with that item as well.
Once I got to registers, I found more friendly associates there. All staff that I encountered were friendly, helpful and, as strange as it sounds to notice this, seemingly happy! I'll definitely visit this Michael's first for my next craft/hobby needs.
