We lost the sweetest, happiest, funniest, and most lovable dog during a "routine" spay surgery. Dr. Stancliffe told us her heart stopped during the procedure. When we went to go pick her up, we, of course, were distraught and had questions about what happened. Dr. Stancliffe did not even have the human decency to be the one who took us back to her or at least be waiting to talk to us and answer our questions. The vet tech asked if we needed help getting her to our car. When we asked again what happened, she went to get him. All he had to say was, "Sometimes this just happens" A perfectly healthy dog doesn't just die during a routine spay. And never once was this outcome mentioned to us before surgery. In fact, before the surgery, we did not even get to see or talk to Dr. Stancliffe like they assured us so we could ask questions and go over everything. Instead, the vet tech hurried us back. It was apparent HoneyBear was scared and stressed. And at 125 lbs, the only way to handle her was with her harness, plus it helped comfort her, but the vet tech hurried her out of her harness and into a slip lead, which stressed her out even more. Then she hurried us to sign the paperwork and hurried us to leave while HoneyBear was trying to run and follow us out the door, and the vet tech was trying to hold her back by the thin slip lead around her neck, now choking her... And that is the last time we got to see her alive. And not one ounce of EMPATHY or COMPASSION from Bryan Stancliffe. Instead, he actually smirked and scoffed when we reminded him we lost our other Saint, Maybelle, at this clinic as well... his response "Your other dog had a tumor, and that's somehow our fault?" No, not at all, and never once did we think or claim that. If we did, do you think we would have brought another dog here? In hindsight, we shouldn't have, and I wish every day that we wouldn't have. But we were trying to explain our heartache that we have now lost two dogs during surgery here at this clinic within two years. Not to mention we had just lost Maggie, our other Saint, three months prior to HoneyBear. So we now, just like that, had an empty home, so if he could please spare a little understanding or empathy. But that was apparently too much to ask of Dr. Stancliffe because instead, he tried to square up, and his wife had to physically push him out of the room as he yelled at us to "get our dog, and get the f*** out." Twice. Honeybear was a year and a half, and she was more than just a dog. She was our baby. She was the 4th Saint Bernard we had rescued and was only a few months old when we brought her home. She quickly stole our hearts. We had just bought our first house and were looking forward to the future we thought we had with our healthy puppy. We'll never forget the way this place treated us... and, more importantly, the way they treated HoneyBear. They may be able to give yearly vaccinations and trim nails. But when something goes wrong, or on a bad day, these are not the people you want on your team caring for your most beloved family members. And I think your actions and attitude on a bad day say a whole lot more about you as a person than on a good day.

This vet clinic is the absolute best, specifically Dr. Allison C***! She and the rest of the staff really care and do absolutely everything they can to help your pet. We travel a lot and don't actually have a regular vet that we can see regularly but whenever we come to town, she remembers us and treats us like we have been here client the entire time. What a gem.

While visiting family in KS, our Dood, pulled up limping in transit from NJ. My sister called Animal Clinic of North Topeka and they started the paper work for an appt. We requested the obligatory info from our vet in NJ and Barkley was in the day we arrived. Dr. Stancliff and staff were accommodating and thorough. We are back home and finished with the prescribed med. Barkley was actually back to his goofy Dood self within 24 hrs of his first dose. Great clinic, wonderful team! Oh, and ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK

Our young cat had a litter of kittens and we had some difficulty with some of the kittens. We brought our kitten in distress to the vet and they did everything they could to make us feel better and did everything they could to save the kitten. Unfortunately the kitten didn’t make it. My husband and I were very upset with this outcome because we had a very hard night the first night they were born. The Dr. assured us that the outcome wasn’t our fault and even sent us a sympathy card in the mail for our loss. It made us feel special that they sent us card and reached out to us to make sure we were doing okay. Even gave us a follow up phone call regarding the other kittens and young cat mom. I wouldn’t trust any another vet with my fur babies. Always very pleased with the care they have provided to all of our cats. Thank you to all the staff members for everything you do ❤️

I used to come here years ago when I was married to bring our pets in for their health needs. Haven't been here since 2012, but nothing has changed. It's still the best animal clinic in Topeka in my opinion. Today I brought my new 8 week old Chug (Chihuahua/Pug mix) puppy to get its first shots and check up. The doctor and nurse took great care of Lola and answered any and all my questions. The whole staff were very nice and accommodating to both Lola and I. I have a 12 year old Schitzu (Buddy) and a 12 year old Rat Terier mix (Duke), whom were both adopted from local humane societies, that I'm bringing in as well for their checkups and booster shots. I've never felt more comfortable and confident in any other animal clinic than I do at the Animal Clinic of North Topeka. I have gone to other animal clinics in town in the past, but my preference is here. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff for making us feel welcome and part of the family!

I wouldnt trust ANYONE else for my pets. My 17.5 year old beagle recently passed away, and I truly believe there's no way she'd have been with us that long if it weren't for the veterinarians at North Topeka Vet! They cared for her throughout her entire life (puppy till euthanasia) so we experienced many visits to the clinic through the years. They are extremely knowledgeable and care for your pet as if its their own - A+! The staff is wonderful and the knowledge here is so well known that many of my KC friends drive to Topeka just to bring their pet to this Animal clinic. Though it's very difficult for me to talk about, my dog was treated by the staff with the utmost respect, care and love at the very end. We were a complete mess when the time came however the staff empathized with us and were extremely respectful. I never felt like a number, we felt special because of how much they cared for our pup. My entire family take their pets here and my pets won't go anywhere else. Take your pets here... They are wonderful!

I have never met a more kind and compassionate vet. Dr. Kevin is the best. He was gentle and living helping us with the passing of my dog Roger. His care and concern our pets is truly his blessing to us owners!
