Went to perchance fish got questioned and attitude when asked about our tank size. We have plenty of experience with fish tanks. Kid said he was the manager when I asked for one when he is not the manager. I don't need attitude when trying to buy something from your store.

I've lowered my rating from 5 to 3 stars because of the recent price hikes (update: they've lowered the pricing recently). Back to 4 stars! I love the staff here and all the perks of being a member.

I shop at this location frequently. Unfortunately it just keeps getting worse. I just walked out of this store and was actually shocked this time. None of the staff approached to see if I needed any saltwater fish since that's what I was looking at. There was a tank that had 5 dead maroon clownfish dead at the bottom with a tang dragging them around the tank. All of the sumps are below operating level meaning the salinity is probably way off. There is zero flow or water movement in any of the tanks. Most you can barely see into due to algae. Its kind of like one of those sad commercials with a really sad song playing. This trip was so disappointing. Petco please fix this. It's really unacceptable.

I'm at a loss for what to do with this location. I have told the staff about my concerns and called corporate to let them know what's going on but nothing changes. This location has quite a few reptiles and amphibians that prefer tropic environments, and yet every enclosure, aside from the big one that houses the chameleon, is set at 40% humidity. Water bowls are often empty and the heat lamp is only inches above these animals so they are basically frying. The worst I've seen so far is this poor ball python. He's emaciated, dehydrated, impacted, has scabs from mites, and obviously has stuck shed because of the lack of moisture. But hey the good news is that this snake that's on the brink of death can be bought at only $300! I know loads of people with that kind of cash to drop on an animal that probably won't make it.
Here's a tip for Petco: ball python humidity should be, at the very bare minimum, 50%. 60-80% is better and they should never be on aspen substrate because it's literally meant for desert animals. Use coconut fiber instead and for the love of god MIST IT or at least give them a big bowl of water. These changes aren't hard and should be prioritized to prevent animal suffering. If the manager can't provide adequate care for each animal, then stick to heartier snakes like corns and let someone who cares deal with the ball pythons. Especially if you're going to continue to buy rare morphs that will just sit in these conditions because nobody can afford them. This location should be ashamed of itself for being too negligent to mist an enclosure or fill a water bowl.

Petco in Topeka stay away from that store. If you have a sick dog they will not sell you hills dog food without a prescription. If you want good customer service then go to your vet or to Petsmart.

Just a heads up for those who may not have known, like myself! I booked a grooming appointment for 1pm, a week in advance. I completed all the pre-appointment steps, arrived at 1, checked in and was told that I could pick my dog up in 3 hours for the basic bath. There were multiple dogs in front of him so prior to his turn, he would wait in a kennel. I was unaware Petco would operate under this style of grooming and it was not made clear through the booking process. The staff was more than happy to cancel my appointment (as she mentioned she was already going to have to be working past her shift) and recommended a different type of grooming facility. Every person and dog is different but I felt it was important for people to have this info prior to booking. Hope this helps!

The acting manager made an exchange of a bag of finch seed very easy. The bag sent to my home had a tear in it and lost seed. I was glad there were no issues with the return/exchange.

Petco in Topeka never seems to have the filters I need for my dogs water fountain in stock. I managed to get it in Lee Summit.
