March 2025 by Carter Sumner
I used to work at this AutoZone a few years ago. Never had an issue with them till this week. I had order a ECM for my car and THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE IN ON MONDAY March 17 and had to a run around just to get a tracking number. I don't remember when I worked there it was that difficult to either find a tracking number or at least tell the customer hey FedEx being weird it could later in the week it will arrive. The employee's there I asked maybe every few hours on Monday hey is the part there and they would say no. I had one of the grey shirts when I asked her hey can I get the tracking number for the package. I was told they couldn't receive it. I don't remember that was an option when I worked there. So had to explain this to my grandmother who helped me get the part for my car. She called the store asked for manager to be put on hold for 20 mins. She had to use my uncle's phone to call them on his phone and told I've been waiting for 20 mins I want a manager. She finally got the manager on the phone for them to tell her the same thing. So she put her foot down and told them to find a way to get it. They finally got the tracking number for the package. It supposed to be here Tuesday March 18th instead of the 17. Why did their system say Monday. It should have a way to update to let the customer know if they package will be late. So now I'm waiting on a part that cost 400 dollars and it's for my only working vehicle. They are making it seem like it's a engine that we bought. It's a small part and it's been almost a week. They also told us not to pay extra for the express because it's never on time but the date on their system "was" for normal delivery.

I know these ratings and reviews don’t do anything and have no affect whatsoever on businesses retraining their employees or correcting issues, but after such a terrible experience at this location i felt compelled to write a review even though I know i’m wasting my time.
I was in need of a new battery for my vehicle, and disregarding the horror stories I’ve heard about autozone i decided to go given it was close to home and not wanting to venture out given the bad roads and freezing temperatures. I should have listened to my instincts telling me not to go there.
I arrive and they test my battery, telling me i need a new one which is what i expected. The employee gives me options and i end up making my choice, costing $260. Then he proceeds to *attempt* to install my new battery.
Within a minute of unhooking my old battery, he drops his wrench and then spends 15-20 minutes looking for it. Luckily he found it, then proceeds to continue the installation process.
He gets the old battery out, and once he does he attempts to put my heat shield on the new battery and ends up ripping it in half. He explains they don’t have any at their store and they have to order another one that they paid for, which i appreciate. After 10 minutes of finding a heat shied Another 20-30 minutes goes by of the employee trying to hook up the new battery and he gives up and grabs another employee to give it a try. With this employee she can’t get it either. They then bring out a 3rd employee who smelled like weed and he can’t get it either. At this point i’m extremely frustrated and ask them to just put in the old battery and i’ll bring the new one to a mechanic for installation. They hook up the old one no problem and then determine that i was given the wrong size battery.
So this brings on another 10-20 minutes of waiting as they try to exchange the wrong size batter with the correct one that i actually need. Once they finally get that taken care of my battery is installed and i think this 2 hour process for something that should have taken 20 minutes is done. But wait, there’s more!
After the new battery is installed i get in my vehicle and notice my heating/cooling doesn’t work, and my backup camera doesn’t work. With every bone in my body telling me to go to a mechanic at this point I go back in and explain to them what is happening. I’m told they have a place in town to fix this but they are booked. I had to work soon and didn’t have time to go to another location.
So i make a quick trip to my local mechanic and they tell me to go to an authorized dealer so they can run a diagnostic. A mechanic then reached out to me and explained to me an option for a quick fix. Thank god it worked.
Something that should’ve taken 30 minutes took almost 3 hours. I understand all the stories about being told not to go to AutoZone now. To the owner or whoever reads this, don’t bother with your apologies or anything. I know you guys don’t care and nothing will change. I just felt obligated to write this to hopefully prevent other people from experiencing the same frustration i did. Might be a good idea to let your customers know that your employees aren’t trained mechanics and recommend just selling parts and then having them professionally installed. But hey, you got my money, and that’s all you care about.

These people are out of their minds! I just needed a tire gauge, nothing fancy! The cheapest one they had was $8.00. I don't think so, get frustrated every time I go in there. Started going to Advanced & O'Reilly's instead! Oh, got one at Dollar General for 2.00! More like it!

Whiskey tango foxtrot. Terrible place to do business. I was second in line and it took twenty minutes to even get spoke to. I thought I had found a theft of a hundred dollars set of headlights and the manager was super rude about it and then laughed at me because I don't go to the VA or carry around my DD-214. This is my he third time my wife or myself have had poor service in our last three visits. I would recommend staying away from this place. At least the calorie challenge gentleman wasn't there today to be super rude to my wife and tell me not to spend all my money on dope. I should be nice to him. It's not his fault he's mentally challenged. I'm glad to see my all time favorite parts store hires the mentally disabled and rage filled racist.
