This place always terrified me as a kid, always cried at the sight of the dead animals and have had nightmares many times about it as well. I am now 12 years older(I am well above 13+) than the first time I ever went to Cabela's and I'm still terribly terrified every time I come in. The last time I came in this store was about a week ago with my father to get some supplies for him and my brother and I almost fainted after 5 minutes, on top of that the staff had us wait a long while as they spoke to another staff member in front of us, only making my anxiety boil. By the time we finally got served about 30 minutes had passed and I had to go wait outside. When my father came out he was empty handed. I asked why and he said they asked him what he was doing and went back to talking. Not good reviews for this place.

I wanted to buy some field glasses.. They keep them all behind a counter and then you have a heck of a time getting anyone to wait on you. I just gave up and left. You get a lot better service at a pawn shop.

Extremely disappointed in the service I received while spending $2,200 on a new rifle and scope. They practically ignored me when at the gun counter and helped other customers who came after me first, would not mount the scope for me on two separate trips out to the store, and left the trigger guard on the gun without providing me a key. The only thing they are interested is making money… customer service is awful. I called my local Scheels and they will gladly mount my scope for me for free even though I bought it from a competitor. ALSO they will match any club member pricing so I will NEVER shop at the Cabalas in Wichita again. Sad to see the store I idolized so much as a kid quickly become a place I never want to walk inside again…

The store itself is okay but the extra sales people trying to sell you credit cards at the front door are super annoying and dificult to doge. Today I was able to dodge the credit card peddlers waiting for you at the front doors but the two jerks selling the Bluegreen Vacations scam (look it up) snagged me by the fish tank and were extremely pushy and rude. One of them asked me if I wasnt interested because I "didnt have time or didnt have money", I immediately told him that I have plenty of time and money but didnt want to sign up for their list and the other guy goes "oh you just dont like to travel". Really? I'm pretty sure I make more money and travel more than both these punks combined. Just save the stress and go to Scheels where nobody is pushing alternative programs or products on you. I really like this place but have had it with these people.

I've been to the Wichita Kansas Cabela's and the Tulsa Oklahoma Bass Pro Shop. I say this because they're the only 2 outdoors sporting goods stores I've been to in person. The Cabela's is a nice place. I've brought my daughter here 2 years in a row to see Santa. It's smaller than the Bass Pro Shop I have been to but I didn't notice anything missing except for a huge selection of boats. The fish tank was neat and clean. The bathrooms were also clean and orderly. I don't have anything negative to say about the place. Any interaction I've had with the staff has been pleasant. The experience's with Santa have been great. If anyone needs something to do with the outdoors I'd recommend this Cabela's to them. I'd also like to thank Cabela's for bringing Santa to the store every year.

We have been Cabela' customers for a very long time, but that ended today.
Eight years ago we purchased an Excalibur Crossbow from Cabela's. It's been a great crossbow but over the weekend one of the limbs cracked. We called Cabela's on Saturday, and were told that they had Excalibur crossbows to buy but there was nothing they could do to help us get the parts to fix it.
Our second call was to Diamond archery, who very helpfully suggested we call Scheels, as they were unable to assist as well.
We called Scheels. Our experience with Scheels was amazing from the start.
The person we spoke to advised us to wait until Monday to bring it to the store, so they could call Excalibur when we came in to their store. Evidently Excalibur's warranty is lifetime and it took a quick phone call from our VERY helpful Scheels employee to Excalibur to get the process started. No parts charge, no labor charge, and needless to say we are extremely happy with the service we got from Scheels, Cabela's competition.
We made a follow up call to Cabela's afterwards to advise them of the poor service we got and honestly, the manager we spoke to gave the impression he couldn't have cared less.
It's SCHEELS for us from here on out!

Ordered online for curbside pickup. Nobody answered the phone upon arrival so I had to walk in. Now, why their online order pickup area is all the way in the back of the store is beyond me, but it’s SUPER inconvenient. Anyway, there was nobody there and after ringing the bell for about 5 minutes I had to walk all the way back to the front, ask for help, wait for for someone else to come, then had to walk all the way back to online order pick up area with the manager. Super nice manager though, apologized a few times. But still…. Why do you have so many employees that appear to be walking around aimlessly when one of them could be assisting customers with online orders?

Just a heads up for all shooters. Cabelas and Bass Pro have changed their policy for price matching on ammunition.
They now only match the main box stores and not online sales. If I'm in a store and they have it in stock, why would I go to Cabelas or Bass Pro? These are still great stores with a lot of merchandise. Just sucks that they decided to change a great policy overnight! Looks like I will be buying my ammo off line and paying hazmat fees. Still cheaper if I have to drive a long ways to get to get to either store.

I loved taking my twin boys here. They loved the aquarium and the stuffed animals. I was kind of disappointed in the amount of buzz baits they had available.
