I mentioned to my mom that I was going to go to Luke's and she said she went there years ago and there was a nasty woman working there and she said she'd never go back. Well, that was "years ago" so I didn't think much of it. WOW. We had the unpleasant experience that is Margaret. She said right off the bat that she was having a bad day but Margaret is just having a bad life apparently and should not be in customer service. She is presumptuous, accusatory, abrasive, rude and her own arrogance ran us out of the store. It's unsettling to be falsely accused, but we've had a good laugh about the odds of such an attitude in a SEWING center!! Usually the nicest people! I deal with dozens of people a day at my work and yes there are personalities but most people have good character, but after our experience and reading these reviews, it's clear that Margaret is the one who lacks character. I felt strongly enough about this that I had to sign up for Yelp just to leave a review.

My daughter and I each purchased a sewing machine at Luke's recently. We were treated with the upmost respect in a very friendly and helpful manner. Margaret even fed my husband cookies! Their prices and customer service is top notch and we love our machines. We both would highly recommend Luke's. We drove almost two hours to get there and the drive was worth it. Thank you for the delightful experience!

I had a problem with my old machine and took it to the Amelia store. Turns out it was a minor fix, and Shane took care of it immediately. He was very polite and helpful. I plan to purchase a new machine from this store soon.

I have been going to Luke’s for years. They have reliable sewing machine, serger, vacuum cleaner repair as well as sales and classes. It’s always been a good experience.

Luke’s is a truly amazing resource for sewists. We have bought a sewing machine from Luke’s and had 2 machines serviced here(an Elna sewing machine and an Elna Serger). When troubleshooting a broken machine, the staff are upfront and honest about what they think the issue is, and won’t recommend anything that’s not needed and won’t overcharge you. When I brought a machine into the store, they tested it in front of my eyes and even tried to find a quick repair using other parts available in the store. They are super knowledgeable and you can schedule sewing lessons, something my wife has taken advantage of to improve her skills. You can also trade-in old sewing machines and get discounts when upgrading to a better machine. The machines they sell are really high-quality and their goal is to get you the best, longest lasting equipment.Cannot speak highly enough about this place.

I took a machine in to have it serviced. When it came back it was not quite right. I took it back ,they sent it back in as a rush. Picked it up today and it works great! The people were great and I thank them for their service. Marcia

I have a design 1 husqvarna that was my mothers. However, it was not working correctly. I could not buy parts for it because it took a floppy disk. It does sew very nicely though. I bought a new embroidery machine and was supposed to take my mothers in for parts. However, in the mean time my car was in a serious accident and my husband was killed in the accident. The sewing machine was in the trunk. I do not know if it still works. It was pretty banged up. I went into the store and told them what happened. They said it was fine. I could still bring it in. I ask them how much is was because I wanted to buy it back from them. It was my moms! The gentleman at the store said just go ahead and keep it. You do not need to pay us anything and thank you for being honest. I left with tears in my eyes thanking God for their generosity!

Very helpful place. Bought my first new sewing machine in years. They offer free classes to help learn about the machine and didn't charge me to have another one.Very friendly. Made the right decision going here

I had spent hours trying to fix my sewing machine, and when I took it to Luke’s, they had fixed the problem within about 30 seconds! Free of charge! They even recommended a better needle for me to use. Mike was super helpful and I was so pleased. I will definitely be going back in the future, and spreading the word about this awesome business!!

I am extremely please with my experience at Luke’s Sewing Center. Michael and Margaret we sincerely interested in my request as well as my story. I had a Viking that had been passed on to me from a very special lady, and it was in need of repair. I now have a completely refurbished machine that is like new, with potential beyond anything I could have imagined. There was nothing overlooked in addressing my needs. I’m looking forward to getting a lesson to help me understand all that my machine can do and I’m excited about future projects !!!

I bought my Elna from Luke’s 3 years ago. I absolutely love it. The folks at Luke’s are great, too. They’ve provided valuable maintenance and thrown in little freebies. I trust them implicitly with my “baby”.

Unless you have your wallet open the second you walk in, you're chopped liver to these people. I brought a Singer machine from the 50s to see about repair. The woman I spoke to quoted me $170 without even looking at it and immediately whisked me away to try and sell me an $800 machine. I wasn't interested whatsoever in buying a new machine, but she pushed the sale so aggressively. I get it, you make commission, but you also lost a repair customer from being SO pushy and rude. I left and went to Beach's Sew and Vac in Newport, who didn't try to sell me on something I didn't want.

Me and my mom have dealt with the manager and her son they are both very friendly. Her son is very knowledgeable and very helpful and will show you how a machine work's before purchasing one. We even took the offer for free lessons. She is also friendly and very helpful. We are looking forward to going back next week and take a lesson on embroidering. Thanks Vicki Barnes. Changed my review as me and my mom went back in the store and my moms on oxygen the owner came out ask my mom several times if she was sick and my mom was struggling to breathe but she told her several times she's not sick that she has copd.. She was coping an attitude with my mom. I finaly jumped in and said she told you she's not sick and she the owner did not have a mask on. So I ask her are you sick. Her remarks was yeah I'm sick this lady has an attutude from he'll and she will destroy this business. Every time im in the store the owner is always on the phone with a customer with her attitude then she comes out talking bad about the customwr to her son. Also while the little lady who teaches sewing was assisting us with a purchase my mom ask a question the owner from a room starts yelling at the worker and said you dont give out any information without talking to me 1st. Very very unprofessional.

The nicest people work for Luke’s. I took in my old machine for servicing which was extremely reasonable. When i went to pick up my machine, the technician talked to me about the pattern of wear on my machine and was able to guess what type of sewing I most frequently do based on what repairs my machine needed. They recommended a machine with a different motor and let me do a trade in. I am very happy.
