Did not stay at the resort but spent the day at the marina and Beach and from what I can tell the resort area looked very nice and well! There seemed to be accommodations all the way up from single bedrooms to cabins and we noticed a lot of people out with their jet skis and paragliders, speedboats, etc.. A great spot if you want to have a picnic or spend the day fishing

im surprised yall didn't get lower on your health inspection! After getting rid of everyone that actually cleaned in that kitchen it's no wonder why the score was so low. Just know for anyone that chooses to eat there.. they will do anything to get by to make a quick dollar. Me and someone else found maggots in the dishwasher which was going to be ignored if we didn't say anything. walk in fridges always smell of rotten animal. Its no wonder because theyll keep food in there thats molding and that needed to be thrown out weeks ago! leaks mixed with animal blood just dripping onto the floor! And they will ignore expiration dates on food in order to sell it. They'll sell food that's 3 days past expiration date so they dont have to make more. Don't even get me started on the improper cooking techniques. They were putting out raw chicken before a friend of mine started temping it but if you dont keep a close eye they'll put it out regardless.

We always enjoy staying at KY State Parks. This was a very beautiful place. Rooms could use a little upgrade but overall it was a good time.

Clean comfortable rooms with cold air conditioning, although dated. Loved the pool and lake views. Plenty of parking and a great breakfast buffet at the restaurant. Pass on the dinner buffet.

Staff was fantastic. So friendly.
Gift shoppe was expensive.
Buffet was good.
Very quiet setting.
Room was clean but our electric kept shutting off. No fridge or microwave in lodge room.
Could not see the lake from the lodge room because it's so over grown.
There wasn't much to do.
We chose this place because it had miniature golf, pontoon boat rental, and a beach......
Due to so much rain the lake was super high so beach was gone.
The ramp to walk to the boat dock for rentals was under water. They told us we'd have to swim to it. BIG signs saying no swimming due to possible electrical shock 😲
And the miniature golf was closed.
They do have a nice pool which we were able to use.
All in all if everything was available I would say it's a great place but there's nothing out there but farm land so no shopping or entertainment near by. They do have things scheduled for the summer like music and karaoke at the lodge.
Sadly we spent most of our time in our room because there wasn't anything to do.
I'd call ahead and ask what's available before booking if you're looking to take advantage of what they have.

Under staffed ! Grounds around miniature golf in poor condition! Weed eaters cut to dirt throwing all debris on corse surfaces with no attempt to clean or maintain! Water level way up on lake understand nothing can be done about that but a full time shuttle boat to prevent wading in water to your waist to access dock would have been nice ! Had 2 cabins rented interior was good ! Exterior dirty with no attempt to clean decks or outside furniture walkways need to be pressure washed to make safer when damp !! For years my family and I have stayed at every state park in Ky but unfortunately the conditions are getting worse each time !!!

Our family group of 9 met at the resort for a reunion. (We came from Virginia, Illinois and Indiana.)
This Rough River Dam State Park Resort is our new favorite spot. The rooms are modern and very comfy. Super clean! Food at the lodge is excellent. Served buffet style, it works well for a variety of tastes and appetites. The servers, and staff as a whole, are so friendly and helpful. The lodge is a great place to meet and visit. Indoor and outdoor seating areas are spacious. Cute gift shop. On Friday evening there was live music on the patio with outdoor bar service. Really great music and atmosphere. We all highly recommend!
