I want to thank the staff at Animal Eye Institute of Northern Kentucky in Florence, Kentucky for their professional care and comfort of my dads dog, Moe. They removed cataracts from both eyes. I feel they took extra good care of Moe. The girls and staff spoiled him a little. I highly recommend them in eye care although I hope nobody ever has to cross this bridge with their dogs. Dr Ron Spatola is the man.

I drove 3 hours back in August for my German Shepard to have eye surgery. Dr. Spatola was epitome of a what a Veterinarian should be. He explained everything, informed us of all possible outcomes, and was genuinely caring about our concerns and anxiety. My dog's vision was restored and he is doing great.

Outstanding experience. Very high quality professional service at all levels. Cost was as expected, certainly not high. Surgery went very well. Communication and follow up were as good as for any medical services I have purchased.

Upon arriving at Animal Eye Institute, the front office staff seemed disoriented. I was led into an office room my dog was immediately muzzled, which increased both his anxiety and mine. After the assistant tested my dogs eyes I was led into another room where the vet did the same tests. At the time, I was grappling with the pain of a compressed disc in my neck pinching a nerve. Attempting to comfort my agitated dog while he underwent tests with the nylon muzzle was exceedingly painful. The atmosphere felt like a hard sales pitch, reminiscent of door-to-door salesmen. Instead of displaying empathy, especially considering we had just lost our 7-year-old dog to Emergency surgery that very morning, the staff seemed more focused on convincing us about the procedure.I inquired about the risks, specifically how many dogs had passed away during this procedure. Their response, stating only one in thousands, didn't sound credible to me. I recall jestingly saying something along the lines of "I'd kill over my dog," a sentiment I believed most dog lovers would understand.I posed several questions and ultimately agreed to the procedure. We made the payment and were instructed to administer eye drops to Triton's eyes twice daily leading up to his surgery, scheduled for October 3rd. An additional testing appointment was set for September 27th.The following week, I reached out multiple times for more information about what to expect. I communicated with both the vet's assistant and the anesthesiologist, who mentioned that they could potentially provide something to soothe Triton for his tests. I was told to expect a call on Monday for coordination. However, Monday passed without any communication. The next day, Joey, the Office Manager, contacted me and subsequently reached out to my wife when I couldn’t answer. He mentioned they had to cancel the appointment because of my comment, which they perceived as a potential threat. I tried to reason with Joey, emphasizing that I hadn’t directed my comment towards anyone, but to no avail. What’s weird is they didn’t say anything to me about my comment in the two weeks leading up to Joey’s call despite me talking to people on the surgical team.Reflecting on the situation with my wife, she admitted feeling uneasy about this establishment from the start, suggesting that perhaps the cancellation was for the best.Deciding to shift gears, I immediately contacted MedVet and scheduled an appointment for the next day. The experience was night and day. We were greeted warmly upon entering, with front desk staff offering coffee and tea. To my astonishment, I learned that MedVet charges considerably less than Animal Eye Institute.Throughout our visit, the MedVet team was compassionate, professional, and thorough in explaining every detail about the procedure, potential complications, timelines, and costs. Their welcoming environment stood in stark contrast to our experience at Animal Eye Institute.I highly suggest if you’re getting cataract removal for your pet, save some money and use MedVet instead.

They were so fantastic with our dog Foxy. So professional, efficient and caring. Foxy started with vision loss after diabetes but now is back to her puppy self even at 9 years old!

I have a love for Bulldogs, with that being said they are prone to eye problems. I can’t tell you everything (I could go on for days). DJ and all the doctors at every office (oh yes I have been to all three offices) are amazing. I have had 4 dogs total need to see them for one thing or another. My first dog, we thought going in would need a double enucleation. Not only was DJ able to save his eyes but he had to have 2 emergency eye surgeries to fix this issue, and he saved his eyes both times. Top notch care in every way. The staff is always friendly and kind. Even the doctors that DJ is “learning” from him, are always very helpful and interested in what is going on and very kind. They have seen my grandparents horses and my sisters dog as well all have nothing but wonderful things to say! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This was our first experience with Animal Eye Institute, as we just adopted our Luna in February. Not only were they incredibly helpful, they were also more than willing to take the time to explain Luna's diagnosis, treatment history, and treatment plan moving forward. They were incredibly patient with her, as she lived up to her Husky dramatics, and so kind. I look forward to continuing to work with them in the future to care for Luna, and any other pet we get that might need their services.
