I went there to buy my husband some cigars as a gift not knowing anything about them. The woman working was so helpful and picked out a few fir me after asking a few questions about him and even said he could call if he had any questions. I will definitely be back if I need to get him anymore needless to say!

Very disappointed with our experience at Straus Tobacconist. I was very excited to go here, as I have recently gotten into smoking a pipe after 7 years of enjoying cigars and was in town from VA. The manager was not eager to help. He did answer questions, but you could tell he was almost annoyed with simple tobacconist questions. He even pointed a laser at products vice going over to the product with you. The humidor was extremely dusty, and did not feel like 70/70. I gave 2 stars because they did have a good amount of bulk pipe tobacco. The lounge (currently closed due to renovations) was $20 for a sit, which is very steep for not a friendly or solid environment. I will try the downtown location before I leave town, hopefully it’s a better experience there.

Went in here expecting a lounge to smoke in but its currently under renovations. They had a great selection of pipe tobacco there priced very well compared to where I live. Customer service was great as well would like to come back when everything's back together in lounge. Brighter days are ahead!

I’ve been buying from JR Cigars and Thompson Cigars both online. By the time I paid shipping Straus came out the same, and I didn’t have to wait 8 days. Plus I get to check out all the inventory and get help from experienced people. Worth supporting a local business for! News flash to the bad reviewers, pipe and cigar tobacco is premium quality that takes an unbelievable amount of time and labor to create. It’s not the same junk that goes in a cigarette. You get what you pay for! Yes, it’s pricey. No, they don’t sell cigarettes that you can get at any gas station!

There were two things that I miss living in my old stomping ground in Milwaukee. One was my neighbors. I miss them terribly. They were great folks that I had the pleasure of knowing. The second was Uhle's Cigar Shop on Wisconsin in downtown Milwaukee. It is a great place to go. It will always be in my heart. I met many friends there. They took a hit during the zenith of the pandemic just like most other businesses. So when the move to Kentucky ( Union/ Florence ) became necessary, some serious changes had to be made. There was nothing you can do about your neighbors. You can't bring them with you. The cigar "problem" was much different. You simply start searching. I found that with Straus Tobacconist on Mall Road in Florence. Now, just like I mentioned, the pandemic changed how business owners conducted their business and the environments that allowed you to enjoy a good smoke. They have a great selection. If you don't find what you want, they can get it. But again, the pandemic has caused a lot of delays with ordering and delivery. Be patient. I noticed little difference between ordering from a brick and mortar and from a company online. Obviously, I want to see what I'm buying before I smoke it. These folks are respectful, careful with your merchandise and friendly. If you want to start some problems?, DON'T!!!, you will get put out and you won't get invited back. The owners are older and they don't have time for BS. Don't go here if you think you can intimidate or push employees around. Leave that outside. You will pay the going rate for all products. If you want something like pipes and accessories, wait for the sales... they are more than fair and pretty good. The service is like I stated, treat them with respect and you will get it back. Straus has made it easy for me to get my products to allow me to enjoy a good smoke. Whether it's a cigar or a pipe of good tobacco...you can't go wrong here. The plus for me is that they are in close proximity to my home. That's a plus and worth the trip. I spend about $70 to $100 a week each time I go there, the money is well spent. They still haven't opened their lounge yet ( they closed it down during the pandemic ), you have to take your wares from the premises to enjoy them right now. When they do open up the lounge again, I will be there. Five Stars!!!
